Yes thanks Cozmo. We did exactly that. I know the fireworks will be nonstop this evening. Our whole neighborhood gets a little crazy on the 4th. Happy 4th to All our US members.

Thanks, certainly having a nice relaxing day of hikes and some wine. Its great to celebrate FREEDOM - hoping that we don't continue to dwindle that away in Amerikkka.

Isn't that "double-dipping?" Somehow that seems wrong. That, or I'm just insanely jealous. :P

I wouldn't mind having both days off. :) Seems like it would be a benefit of working for a company that offers both holidays off.

Yeah I had a dog like that years ago. Its a bit heart breaking to see, but at least its only 1 long night a year. Not sure if you have basements where you are but a good industrial fan on full blast in the basement can help.

Sadly, I was driving for Uber on the 4th of July with lots of fireworks around and I hit and killed a dog about the size of a German Shepard.

I was on a dark road and he (she?) was a dark dog and I came uon him running down the middle of the road and I tried to panic stop but was unable to.

I was sick with grief about it, because I imagine this was someone's pet dog that escaped due to the fear from the fireworks, and now they will never get their beloved pet back.

Thankfully, there was no damage to the car, but I think I would have been OK with some minor damage in order to save the doggy's life.

Chilly, my 7 year old terrier/chia mix was fine. Sam, our new pom/terrier
mix slept through them. We just got him and don't know how old he is, but do know he's suffered some hearing loss - and loves to sleep. We're guessing
    he's 8 or 9 years old.

My condolences. I'd hate to be the pet owner or the driver in that circumstance.

I'd heard a lot of people talking about CBD biscuits for dogs to help calm them during fireworks, but mine were unfazed.

You have to feed them to the dogs for them to work; not the humans. Lol.

    That is just horrible.

I am thankful my horses are fine with fireworks for the most part. In fact I have the
memory of one of my mares trying to confort _me_ after they started with the pyrotechnics.
