• fsxNet File Areas>>>Disappearing Files?

I'm probably just uninformed on how the fsxNet file bases/FTN File Bases work.

What happened was I hadn't setup my fsxNet file bases, ever...

and I recently didso and Mystic tossed all these wonderful files into the fsxNet file bases. ALL versions of mystic, tons of mods and doors and... FILES.

A day later, they are all gone - replaced with yes, the current nodelist and...

I can see that they are all the files uploaded YESTERDAY, but...

Is there a way to keep ALL the files forever? Is that not what the point of the

fsxNet file bases are supposed to be?

Is there a way to keep them until I can scrape what I want to keep on my board?

I see one setting in the file areas called FileEcho Hub - to not allow pass thru... but I probably just don't understand what this means.

For an example, I'd noticed a raspberry pi compile of syncterm and told a friend to go grab it because he is having issues with syncterm on a pi. And of course it wasn't there...

So; will someone explain all my issues away??? Thanks kindly.

They won't show up in a new file scan anymore but they should still be in your filebase, aren't they?

    Ttyl :-),

Hatched files can have a REPLACE keyword, which is supposed to make them replace obsolete files with new ones, so you don't have 10 million old nodelists etc, just the latest one.

It sounds as though something is going wrong with your software though,
the info pack shouldn't replace ALL the files.

You may be able to configure your software to ignore the REPLACE key
word, but I wouldn't recommend it.

    It's a bit strange actually.

You should be able to keep them for as long as you wish.

I would take a look at your maintenance .INI file that you're using. There may be something in there that will give you a clue.

Also, take a look in mystic -cfg, under configuration, file base settings. I always suggest setting the Upload Dupe Scan to current, instead of all. That way, it will allow you to have the same files in multiple file areas without thinking they are duplicates.

There have also been some bugs introduced into the file processing in the since

A46. In the most current pre-alpha:

! May have fixed a bug created in A46 with file base indexing. Everyone that
may experience problems with duplicate file detection should probably run
file base packer so it can regenerate the index files.

You may want to check out the most recent pre-alpha and see if that helps.

This is a good call... this one thing has caught me out before also.

I know some people want to keep all dupes out of their files, but there are some files that I prefer to have in multiple areas... :)

BTW, I hope it's alright. I did mention Agency BBS in one of the animated pause

(Notice how I brought this back on topic?) ;)
