• Some thinking...

From Blue White@21:4/134 to apam on Wed Oct 10 17:04:44 2018
Finish QWK networking.. I started it ages ago, and should
finish it. What about WWIVnet? Magicka originally
supported WWIVnet and it would be nice to do so
again. Then all major still exisiting networks would
    be supported. Who else does
    this??

None that I am aware of. I have never been involved in a WWIV network, but might give it a shot if I had a system that supported it. I am interested
in the QWK networking. The native networking also seems to work and is a
    neat idea.

.. perhaps it's time to do a roll call, and work out a way to get
    connected and collaborate..

Yesterday, I saw another BBS on another network that had posted as Magicka
v10 or 11. Wasn't one I was familiar with, wish I had paid more attention!

    What do others think?
Everyone is able to contribute, be it code, documentation,
    supporting others, encouragement, anything really.

I try to help out others when asked. Can also say I enjoy running it. I
was not familiar with git and had not done much of compiling stuff on my
own, so there was a learning curve but I am glad I seem to have it figured
out. It runs great on a Pi and it is pretty easy to add linux-native doors
    to.

Getting familiar with Magicka has made me more familiar with my pi, and the linux cli in general, and has made me more likely to try things again. I
had got real "comfortable" with linux and would not install anything that wasn't in a package. Now I like to explore more and try things out that
    are not as easy. :)

I must get into Magicks, it looks like a really nice system.

I'm an old hand at Linux itself, it'll be more learning about Magicka that I'd be focusing on.

That stuff is fun. :) I got that way with Linux back in 2001 when I started running an IRLP node (http://irlp.net). I was already using Linux before then (started in 1995) and had a degree of familiarity, but IRLP gave me incentive to get my hands dirty in scripting and software integration (making all those pieces work together). :)

... I have closed my consciousness to all further discussions on that.

Actually WWIV supports both WWIV networking and FTN networking native...
Also WWIVnet is available as a FTN feed in addition to WWIVnet style networking.

Info on joining WWIVnet (in either WWIV networking or FTN style) at http://www.wwivnet.org

That said, we <3 apam's bbs and his pull requests to WWIV too :)

Man times are different with BBSes than they were in the 80s and early 90s...
