Hello Andrew,

I found that when I try to build the latest GD (hatched out by Avon in the
past few hours), I get the following error:

main.c:14:17: fatal error: lua.h: No such file or directory

Some background:

* I get a build error on Debian 8, whilst having the following LUA dev
packages:

* When I try to build on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, it completes without error. The
following LUA libs are available:

ƒ”‚A A ƒ”œƒ”€ƒ”€ lua.h

ƒ”‚A A ƒ””ƒ”€ƒ”€ lualib.h

It seems that the build wants the dev package for Lua 5.3, unless I read the issue wrongly. Do you perhaps know what the issue could be?

Yep, you'll have to modify the build.sh to point to the version of lua
you have, different distros have different versions and put them in
different places, but it should work if you hack the build script a bit.

Ideally it would have some autotools, but I have no idea how to use that
lol

Sorry, I should have been more specific on which parts to change.

There are 2 lines to change, line 13 and line 16, you should just need to change lua5.3 to lua5.2

if that doesn't work, let me know and I'll see if i can spin up a debian
8 vm.
