• QWK Networking

From Lupine Furmen@21:4/102 to All on Thu Sep 12 23:34:04 2019
I'm trying to gate my SFnet into a QWK type network to give Sysops an option other than FTN, but am having some problems.

If anyone can help me (there's nothing I could find in the Mystic WIKI about this), please Contact me via either Discord (Chalupy#9138) or Telegram (@L_Furmen). Thanks in advance.

As far as I know Synchronet is the only BBS package that can do this. You would
need to have SBBS setup yourself to do this, or if you have any nodes running SBBS and they are willing.. they could do it.

Mystic's QWK hub feature isn't complete yet. You can join a QWK network, but not run a QWK network.

I'd suggest using Synchronet for that job. I'm not on SFNet, but happy to join and offer QWK services from my Synchronet system.. I already gate a number of nets in both directions. Adding one more is no big deal. Feel free to netmail me or email vk3jed@vkradio.com .

Lovely, then I guess Furmen's Folly will be joining SFnet and act as the gateway between the two network types.

I agree with others that Synchronet is the way to go, and finding someone
on the network that is running synchronet that is willing to bridge it is probably easiest.

BTW, how does one join SFnet?

I tried setting it up on this end as well, to gate between FTN<>QWK, and
wasn't able to get it working. That's why I ended up setting up Synchronet,
as the gating is pretty simple to set up.

There is also no options on the user side to tell mystic that the account is being setup for use as a QWK network connection. That can only be set in the User Editor on the sysop side.

The last time I tried to set up Mystic as a QWK hub, there were some issues that still needed to be sorted out. I think g00r00 was going to work on them, but I don't think he has yet...

That's what I thought too. Synchronet is generally the BBS of choice for QWK hubs these days. It's fairly straightforward to setup.

Yep will add to my TO-DO but to be honest it will be down the list a bit.
It's not something I have really set up and used myself so not really in a
