• SyncTERM issues

    From oog@21:1/172 to All on Sat Mar 9 17:45:32 2019
    Hey all,

    So I've been using syncterm and am generally happy with it, but I have two issues I've been unable to resolve...

    First issue: While I am able to paste by right-clicking the mouse, and I can highlight things by left-click+drag the mouse, I cannot for the life of me get _copy_ to work. Maybe I'm missing something. Shouldn't highlighting and then releasing the mouse button perform a copy? Doesn't work for me on linux. Manjaro with KDE. Not sure if it's an issue with syncterm, or my environment somehow.

    Second issue: I noticed in my ~/.syncterm directory, there is a syncterm.ini file that has the following:

    [SyncTERM]
    ScalingFactor =1
    OutputMode =Autodetect

    Making changes to this file don't seem to persist, they get reset when I run the app. Would like to force it to a scaling factor of 2 all the time as
    that's a much more reasonable size with the resolution I have on my laptop screen. It seems to work sometimes, but invariably gets reset to the values above.

    Any help or insights appreciated. I'd switch to netrunner, as it doesn't
    have these issuse, but I don't want to give up ssh, etc.

    Thanks in advance :)

    Not so, I saw both 32bit and 64bit linux versions. Can confirm 64bit version does all the things I was hoping for :)

    Hey all,

    So I've been using syncterm and am generally happy with it, but I have two issues I've been unable to resolve...

    If you want to reach the SyncTERM developers (including me) more quickly, one of the Synchronet-related support discussion groups would be recommended.

    No, selecting with the left mouse button peforms a "selection" on *nix, which can be pasted using middle-click on the mouse. On most *nix's, the copy buffer and the selction buffer are not the same thing.

    Second issue: I noticed in my ~/.syncterm directory, there is a syncterm.ini file that has the following:

    [SyncTERM]
    ScalingFactor =1
    OutputMode =Autodetect

    Making changes to this file don't seem to persist, they get reset when I run the app. Would like to force it to a scaling factor of 2 all the time as that's a much more reasonable size with the resolution I have on my laptop screen. It seems to work sometimes, but invariably gets reset to the values above.

    Perhaps a scaling factor of 2 is too big for the display mode? I'm not sure what display mode you're running in. You could experiment with the differnet '-i' command-line option values to see if one of those changes the behavior to your liking.

    And did you experiment with the different output modes or -i command-line options, like I suggested?

    Yes, tried all the command line options, tried manipulating code and recompiling, no joy for me. Regardless of what I tried, it refuses to start
    at scale factor 2, and will reset it back to 1 on open if it gets set that
    way by manually resizing the window.

    Netrunner is serving me well.

    I was able to reproduce a problem with setting the initial window size when ScalingFactor was set > 1 and that problem appears to now be fixed: http://cvs.synchro.net/commitlog.ssjs#37990

    Okay, well thanks for the bug report.

    I set the video output mode to SDL Fullscreen in SyncTERM Settings / Program Settings then play with Current Screen Mode until i get a sizing i like
    .
    Getting the mouse to auto hide in that mode has still alluded me however...

    I can't but g00r00 could probably check the language support.

    I would send a detailed problem report to g00r00.
