    Hey

    I plan to release v0.10-alpha of Magicka soonish, I could probably
    release it now, but I think I'll sit on it a while and see if Tiny's BBS
    starts crashing again ;P LOL

    I thought I'd let you know what's coming:

    * New Personal Mail Scan

    It's now possible to scan for messages "TO" you. You can optionally
    read them (without updating last read pointers).

    * Service Ports

    Magicka can now listen on port 23 if you so wish, you have to run it
    as root and it will bind to the service port and setuid/setgid to the
    user you want to run as. (This only works for the Telnet and SSH servers,
    HTTP still must listen on a port > 1024)

    * Web File Areas

    It's now possible to list your file areas on the web server, allowing
    HTTP downloads. (In addition to the temporary urls from v0.9-alpha). It's optional and you can pick and choose which file directories you want
    listed on the web.

    * Improved Automessage

    Automessage now asks you if you want to view / edit or quit, rather
    than just edit the Automessage.

    * Improved last 10

    Now displays an 'N' next to an entry if it's a new account, or a
    little 'new user' badge on the web server

    * New System Blog

    Now it's possible to for any user you give permission to add entries
    to a 'System Blog' which is displayed on login or via a 'News' link on
    the webserver. It uses the standard message editor to write entries.

    * Nailed Wordwrap

    Finally I have the web message editor word-wrapping respectably. At
    least I think I have... this message will either prove it or make my look silly.

    That's about it for now. I'm running out of ideas for things to add :P

    * New Personal Mail Scan

    It's now possible to scan for messages "TO" you. You can optionally read them (without updating last read pointers).

    I think that is one thing that I wish Mystic did. When you read your personal mail, it will adjust the last read pointers. I end up missing some messages that way...

    I'll have to take a closer look at Magicka. I'm really liking the direction you've been taking it.

    Mystic does by default adjust the last read pointer but you can turn that off. I don't remeber off the top of my head how I did it but it is in one of the text files in the docs directory.

    If need be I could look it up.

    I had a look at the wiki but couldn't find it there. I had to scub google pretty good to get it.

    There was a .zip full of mystic docs old and new around. I think I got it on Gryphon's BBS, Cyberia. I think it is listed in the 1.10 what's new file but I don't have that file here ATM to see it.

    I'll give that a try. Thank you.

    Once I added that a personal mail scan didn't set the last read, which I think is better for a personal scan because you may miss new messages!

    This message is part reply and part test of binkit (a JavaScript binkd mailer), I want to see if binkit will send this message on to your node. It recieved your post so if it will also send then I think I'm good.. :)

    That's what was happening. There would be 25-30 new messages in an echo, but the last one would be found in the personal scan. I actually stopped using
    the personal scan, and just did a total new scan of new messages...

    Can you check your log and tell me if we have a secure connection when I poll with binkit as I am about too?

    Binkit doesn't think we have a secure connection and so inbounds arrive in my unsecure directory. That's not a problem since sbbsecho will toss without error from either the secure or unsecure directory but it does need to be fixed.

    Mystic does do that, optionally.

    You can turn that off if you don't like it using a menu command option, so that it doesn't update last read. I believe any read/scan command can have /NOLR option in the optional data to tell Mystic not to update pointers.
