    Andrew,

I had recently sent out an attack of 1 trooper. I received a message stating the attack was unsuccessful, and that 970 fighters have returned. I didn't
    send any fighters... :/

This might be something that has already been taken care of in the newer version which is running locally.

Maybe, I've just fixed the bug dan was referring to (I think).

To be honest I stopped playing a while ago kind of got caught up playing
    gary's doors.

If you want to do an update i'll press the build button on the fsx

BEFORE you do, here is a thought.

I do not know if you have this set up or not.

Planet "Production" .. is it a Set amount * Planet Qty? Or is there a
    Random number used?

What I mean is lets say I have 100 Ore Planets, do they always produce the same amount of Ore each turn or is there a Random-Number Generated to
determine how much Ore is produced that turn? Same with Factory Planets, Soldier Planets, Food Planets etc... And on the Urban Planets, another idea
is to have Number of Deaths and Number of Births randomly generated to Raise/Lower populations...

    Just some thoughts...
    Ignore at will... :)

Oh, I do! LOL Stop making fun games to play and I'll stop playing!!! :)

Planet "Production" .. is it a Set amount * Planet Qty? Or is there a Random number used?

Sort of yes, you still have to have enough population to work the
planets, so if you have an insane amount of ore planets they will only
produce as much as your citizens can work them, if you have very few ore planets, they will produce ore to maximum capacity.

If I was going to add random numbers to the mix, I think I'd rather do it
via the events system. for example one turn might say something like, new
ore mining technology break through, ore mining up 10% or something. Or
union protests, ore mining down 10%

Makes perfect sense... I was unaware about the Number of people on Urban Planets effects Production, that is a much smarter idea...

I sat down yesterday (I think, maybe the day before) and played it until

Well, I don't see myself making many changes to it in the near future,
unless bugs crop up I guess. So it might be a good time to update. I've
not been doing a ton of coding, just updating magicka for tiny and
playing a bit with making a door game maker (though that's just me

I think I give you a huge bug / feature request and you have it completed
in an hour. So I'm going to have to start thinking BIGGER now. <LOL>

Actually I kinda found a bug in ticproc (not really a bug but..) if the
.tic file says the filename is UPCASE.ZIP but linux has it stored as say
upcase.zip it doesn't process it. Can you make it case insensitive maybe?

Ok, I added an option for case insensitivity.. it was a little bit of
work, and I don't have a way of testing it. So if it blows up on the next
    hatch we know why :)

To use it, see the example.ini and set Ignore Case to true.

    Avon,

Are we using the version that you had hatched out? I just had a chance to
look at the game, and noticed that I don't have any scores.

    The logs are showing:
'Got packet for incorrect game id, skipping'

I've got the BBS.CFG file dated 25 Sep.

    The galactic.ini file is showing:
    [Main]
    Turns Per Day = 20
    Turns In Protection = 60
    Log Path = /home/dan/doors/gdyn/logs/

I'm not sure what I did wrong with the setup...

Try deleting game_id.dat it might have picked up an old packet after the
reset and is thinking that is the current game.

I have not updated the HUB again since so it's the last fsx version that

Just a heads up it looks like the HUB whilst processing packets coming in is not removing the packet it processes from the echomail\inbound directory

If you (and others) can play a few rounds of the game and send some packets
the way of 1/10 then I can confirm it's not just Agency sending packets to
    1/10 and causing this behavior.

I did find a bunch of .GAL packets in the inbound earlier and moved them to a temp dir... I had run maint on them but the .exe was not picking up anything
to process so I conclude they may have built up over time and were also some just not deleted after first processing run had concluded.

Yes, it doesn't just delete packets that it doesn't process as people might be running more than one interbbs game at a time. This would lead to build up due to incorrect clients, or incorrect game ids, especially around the time of an upgrade / reset when people are in the process of updating.

I'm not sure what to do about it. I suppose you could clear out the directory after the maintenance runs, but that might add a race condition if a packet arrives while maintenance is processing and gets deleted.

I figured out what I think was happening. I had the bbs.cfg set up at Agency for Jan's now defunct node still, so Agency created a packet the HUB bbs.cfg did not know what to do with so it just sat there.

I just played the game again at agency with the updated bbs.cfg and all
packets sent to the HUB were processed. I suspect the same thing was
happening for the others sending the hub packets for a node that was no
longer in the game... my bad for not updating things correctly when I removed the node from the hub config :)
