• Android telnet app

From Al@21:4/106 to All on Sun Dec 31 15:00:34 2017
    Hello All,

Does anyone know of a good telnet app for the android?

I don't actually have a tablet ATM but a friend does and we are looking for something that would work for telnet when on the go.

    Ttyl :-),

I've been using VX Connectbot but its handling of ANSI isn't great even when you configure it to use IBM page 437. The characters are correct but it
doesn't draw them with fixed width so they're a bit misaligned between lines.

I use connectbot too - from memory some (NuSkooler I think) also use JuiceSSH which confusingly also does telnet!

Try FTelnet. I really liked the direction it was going, but now there's been
a keyboard added to it.. Let me know what you think.

Considering an SSH client already has all of the framework necessary, adding telnet isn't much of a stretch. A lot of SSH clients are swiss army knives
    and cover several functions.

Hmmm....the scaling looks a little off on my OnePLus3. Seems to have stretched the screen for viewing landscape, even though I've got my phone portrait...

Due to a dead home router, I may be a bit late in my reply, but I use Termux and do an apt install telnet on it. It's esentially a *nix shell on your
    phone.

I did notice that. I just found it to be one of the better ones available. But as of the last update he added a keyboard that just doesn't fit this type of app and the keyboard takes up too much room on my S8+ It does handle Ansi pretty well however.

Thanks for the info, and also everyone who replied. I'm going through this area now and saving all your replies to a txt file and the next time I have a tablet available I'll have a look and see what we can do.

    Thanks everyone. :)
