• Wildcat! v4.20

From Robert Wolfe@1:261/20 to Joe Martin on Fri Jan 4 00:00:00 2019
As far as I know, the VIA_SOFT echo was shut down some time ago and
I'd just as soon let it die -- never liked the spelling. I spoke
with Janis awhile back and we'll be creating a new one
    (VIASOFT_SUPPORT I believe).

Ok, just keep me posted, please.

Hope that helps. FWIW, I have found some issues that I'll need to
address before the next release (both WC and SL).

My question is this -- how do you send netmail using ViaMail from within WC! itself?

Also, you know Santronics has PX/WINS v7 available now, right? :)

ViaADDR! of course. You'll need to modify your FIDOENTR.BAT as well to
launch VA.EXE with the appropriate command line parameters.

Also, you know Santronics has PX/WINS v7 available now, right? :)

Yeah, I saw your earlier message.

I didn't have that problem this year on my WC4MLP so I guess mine is set
to something else but I would still like a copy of the program for
future use. You can send it to me at: sysop@techware2k.com

Do you make a netmail door for WC5? PXW OUTbound Netmail isn't working
    for me and some others.

    Thanks.

    Hi folks...

I had an experience today I thought I would share with you.

When logging into Wildcat! v4.20 this morning, I received some netmail messages and was replying to one which sent me off to ViaADDR!, the
netmail 'door' which happily allowed me to accept the reply address.

Upon recycling back to the BBS, Wildcat! detected I was out of time
and promptly kicked me off stating I had exceeded my time limit.
Obviously that wasn't the case (I had only been on a few minutes) so the whole thing sounded way too familiar.

So I ran up my PATCHWC v3.00 program and checked the Epoch date on the WILDCAT.EXE and sure enough, it was set for 1919. Since today is the
first day of 2019, this was the exact reason PATCHWC.EXE was created
    for.

So I ran up PATCHWC.EXE and changed the Epoch date to 1930 and ran it against Wildcat!'s executables. Subsequent attempts at replying to
netmails in Wildcat! were now successful and life is good.

Long story short, if you run DOORs (of any kind) and have not patched
your Wildcat! EXEs, or if your Epoch date was set to 1919 (as was mine), then you'll need to run PATCHWC against it and use at least 1920 as the Epoch date. If you need a copy of the program (it's free), let me know
and I'll make it available for you.

    Regards,

    Joe Martin

Good. As it turns out, Robert may be experiencing that very issue with
    the Netmail Door (WC4).

In answer to your question, no I don't. That work stopped years ago
(90's) and I never revived it. I did work with Allen Prunty recently on creating a tosser for WC5, which at this point is on hold until he has
more time for testing. Presently it tosses/scans (JAM msg format only)
and packs to the Binkley queue just fine.

It's actually kinda nice as its written to be easily extensible for
other BBS formats. ie: WC5+. Unfortunately, it just not there yet for
WC5+. But it sits in the background waiting for mail to arrive and automatically processes it. Like I said, kinda nice.

    Joe Martin

You were and still are. I've been planning on re-releasing this stuff
and am getting much closer to doing so now that the BBS is back up and
running and that the DOCs have (for the most part) all been updated.

Now once all of that is finished, we'll resume work on it. It would go
