• "bad password"

From Greg Meckel@1:103/705 to All on Fri Sep 17 17:13:13 2021
Can anyone tell me if they have seen a problem with mail not going out to their hub with an error "BINKOUT BinkP got fatal error 'Bad password' from remote:" The thing is, it only happens when I write a new message and Bink tries to send it immediately. When the next Binkpoll runs, the message goes out fine. If anyone has had this happen and/or knows how to fix it, can you pleae let me know. Thanks!

Certainly sounds like you have a bad password configured.

Cafefully examining the difference in the log output from the working and non-working connections will likely point out why.

Well, that's what I thought as well, but going through the config files I have the same passwords in each, so apparently that isn't it. I've gone through it with Al as well and he couldn't see anything wrong either. As long as the messages eventually make it out, I guess it's OK.

Notice I mentioned examining the log output, not the configuration.

So which log do I need to look at? I'm still relatively new to SBBS

Outbound BinkP connections are logged where your timed events are logged (e.g. the "Events" window in SBBSCTRL for Windows) while Inbound BinkP connections are logged where your "Services" output is logged (e.g. the "Services" window in SBBSCTRL for Windows).
