• Mail versus Forwarded Mail

    From Dream Master@1:103/705 to Digital Man on Thu Feb 25 17:47:48 2021
    Good day! I noticed this evening that a message I forwarded from the BBS to my personal e-mail did not go through the relay but instead sent direct. This was verified by looking at the raw message header and seeing no relay information.

    My current configuration specifies:

    RelayServer = redacted
    RelayPort = 587
    RelayUsername = redacted
    RelayPassword = redacted

    The message header clearly shows the forwarded message did not go through the relay but direct. I noticed this also going to Tony Langdon as well in the sbbs.log.

    If you require any header data or additional information, please let me know.

    You need the RELAY_TX option flag as shown here: http://wiki.synchro.net/howto:relay_smtp
    and here:
    http://wiki.synchro.net/server:mail#sbbsini

    Option has been set since I started relaying via SendGrid:

    Options = ALLOW_POP3 | USE_SUBMISSION_PORT | TLS_SUBMISSION | TLS_POP3 | ALLOW_SYSOP_ALIASES | RELAY_AUTH_PLAIN | RELAX_TX

    Problem persists.

    Odd. Pasting the mail server log output could be helpful in determining why.

    So, um, yeah, umm, look at how RELAY is spelled.

    I think I'm going to stop typing after midnight moving forward.

    Anyway, thank you for the non support support.

    I owe you one.

    Here's my relevant config settings for SendGrid. I'm sending through
    port 587 and the username is literally "apikey" with the key in the
    password field.

    [Mail] SMTP/POP3 Mail Server
    ...
    RelayServer = smtp.sendgrid.net
    RelayPort = 587
    RelayUsername = apikey
    RelayPassword = REDACTED
    Options = ALLOW_POP3 | USE_SUBMISSION_PORT | TLS_SUBMISSION |
    TLS_POP3 | ALLOW_RELAY | RELAY_TX | RELAY_AUTH_PLAIN
