• FidoNet Message Areas

From Zazz@1:103/705 to All on Thu Feb 21 09:08:30 2019
I dir a fresh install of Synchronet. Issue, I imported backbone.na to add the message areas. It did well. Telnet to PBSync Prison BBS, read a message in the Fido area, tried to reply and it took me back to the message.

I went to scfg, Message Areass, selected Fidonet, message suboards and selected
a message base. Then went to network options and saw that FidoNet EchoMail was set to no. So I changed it to yes. Went back to my message and tried reply and bingo I was able to do so.

Now I have 190 fido message areas to change that option to YES. Is there a quicker way?

Yes I do believe if you got to the 1st message are, 10th Amendment I think, and
set FidoNet EchoMail to YES then save it. The you can Clone that to all sub-boards.

Weird. You should've been able to post anyway.

Yes, use the clone option in SCFG.

set the settings for one of them the way you want all of them in that group set... mark that one as the template record in one of the toggle sections of the record... save the record and move back to the group settings... select the "copy template" option and poof! all of the areas in that group have the same settings... easy peasy ;)

you are welcome... remember, too, that if you have any restricted access areas in that group, you will have to go back and reset their restrictions... i created and maintain multiple NA files so restricted areas are in their own groups which helps deal with restricted areas being leaked to systems/users that should not have access to them... each NA file is imported into its own group and we're GoodToGo<tm> :)

That's not a bad idea. Beats having to manually scan through your areas and hoping you don't miss one.

That's correct. However, if there are some "Sysop Only Echoes", you
have to also change that access level either to Visiting Sysops, or to
"Sysop Level" (I just set those over here at level 99).
