they get moved there for unarchiving... perhaps you need to increase your sbbsecho logging to see some additional logging information?

I did this and didn't see any errors. If I run echocfg and change the paths for inbound to ../temp then run sbbsecho it unpacks and imports them fine but when its configured the normal way ../fido/inbound the files stay in the temp directory and never get unpacked and imported.

which mailer are you using? i know that binkd will download to a temp directory and then move to the proper inbound...

I think the issue is during my polling. I manually polled my hub and watched the output and got this.
    moving '/sbbs/temp/name.we0 to ../fido/inbound/name.we0'
    error 2 opening '../fido/inbound/name.we0'

    that is exactly the problem...

    1. are you initiating the poll as the same user the bbs is running as?
    2. if not, does that user have the proper permissions in the bbs directories? 3. does a file with that name already exist?
    4. if yes, does it have the proper permissions so it can be processed?

that should do for a start ;)

My guess is that the sbbs/fido/inbound directory doesn't exist.
