    Rob, et al.:

As the subject suggests, I have a question regarding BINKIT. Other than it not supporting fileboxes (yet, I switched to the standard BSO) I was running it without issue, save one. Until (or unless) TICKIT supports downlink nodes automatically turning on and off file areas and other controls via "filefix", I am using HTICK. I especially like the fact that they (binkit and tickit) are intergrated into the SBBSECHO settings eliminating extra configurations like I am currently using with HTICK.

My issue is that when BINKIT brings the files in, mail bundles, *.TIC files and their associated files, they just sit in the inbound directory. With BINKD, there is the "exec" command line in the configuration file to execute another program, in this case HTICK. Is there a way to have BINKIT call HTICK?

    Thanks!

Ray, yes there is. Binkit will automatically call Tickit when new
TIC files arrive. I'll assume you already have the 'TICKIT' event defined/enabled (if not the directions are on the Wiki in the
Modules section). What you can do is change the command line
definition for that event. Instead of the current one '?tickit.js'
just define a batch/script file that calls the processor you want to
use (HTICK). In that TICKIT event setup you'll also want to change
the "Use Shell to Execute" setting to YES.

    Hope this helps, good luck.

Thanks for the reminder! I have other events that run native linux scripts already configured. Time will tell if I have this one set correctly.

As I stated in my original message, I really would like to use tickit due to its Synchronet integration, but it doesn't currently have all the features I need. Hopefully the very adept programmers will see fit to include them in the near future.

what additional features are you looking for?

i can think of only two TIC related things that are missing...

    - new file announcements
    - filefix/ticfix like areafix

FWIW: hatching TICs and handling FREQs are different and outside of actual TIC processing which is all that TickIT does... i think HatchIT and FreqIT handle those but i haven't looked into them yet...

I'd like to see both, especially filefix. I've got a lot of downlinks in 2 different networks.

This one can be useful, but I can live without it.

We have a winner! Yeah, this is the one that would cinch it for me. It will come it time. Until then, I will have to use HTICK.

That is how I understand it as well. I don't have any files to hatch out, I just pass them along. If I did, I could send them to the top level system and have them do it.

Im trying to get micronet going. I have everything configured but for some reason when I connect to my hub my system is presenting all my ftn aka's except micronet and thus gets a bad password error. Any ideas on how to get it to present my micronet aka?

Only thing I can think is to recheck/verify that you have your
Micronet node number (AKA) listed at:

    SCFG/Networks/Fidonet Echomail and Netmail/System Addresses

How many AKAs do you have? I have too many, and in my config (I use binkd, not
BinkIT), I have to set "present-AKA" rules to make sure the right AKA(s) for each link are presented.

Thats what I had to do for Micronet guess it was the 1 to many.

Yeah, there's a limit as to how many AKAs that can be exchanged in a handshake,
so once you hit the limit, you have to pick and choose which ones are sent for each connection.
