Tuesday, 01/09/18 6 to 9:50 PM at the Hulen Mall food court, at 4800 South Hulen Street, in southwest Fort Worth, TX.

We had seven gamers (and four no shows) at two tables this chilly/misty/foggy evening, including newcomers Arlene and Brian S.

Table #1 - First, my Alhambra, which was new to Jason. Even so, Jason lead after the first scoring round with 17 points, while I rode drag with 4 points. Instead of buying tiles I spent my turns merely collecting money cards. It wasn't that I didn't want to buy building tiles. It was more a case of the ones
I wanted weren't coming up the first third of the game.

The middle third of the game saw me make some headway, but not enough, as I only moved from 4th place into 3rd. Second scoring resulted in Michael L leading with 52 points, while Connor brought up the rear with 25.

In the last third of the game I bought several tiles, hoping it would turn the tide for me. Yet Michael L's lead (and luck , which he admitted) kept him in the lead. So I only managed to claw my way up to a distant second place. To add
insult to injury, Michael L's longest wall at game end gave him a ridiculous 23 points, while mine yielded only 8.

My managing to get the last three tiles at game end (due to holding a wad of cash) didn't do much for me (except keep them out of the hands of the others).
At game end Connor was tops in Gardens. Michael L had the most Pavilions and Mezzanines, while I had the most Towers and Manors. There was a three-way tie for the Chambers between, Michael L, Jason, and me).

    Scores: Michael L 137, Michael W 94, Jason P 90, Connor 72. Duration: 66 minutes. I believe everyone enjoyed the game.

Next, my Ingenious. Jason and Michael L outstripped my score early on. I seemed
to remain in third place most of the game, but only by a bit. It was a game of
inches. For who lead at any given moment changed constantly.

Near the end I was shocked and flabbergasted when Jason, who could have assured
himself a win (I showed him how) refused to make the blocking play I suggested. Instead he played elsewhere and allowed Michael L to then tie his score (instead of Jason staying two points ahead). I was then 3 points behind, but miraculously, due to both my opponents making sub par plays, I gained two points on my last turn. I was still in last place, but I was much closer to them.

Scores: Jason P 11 (red), Michael L 11 (purple), Michael W 10 (orange). Duration: 43 minutes. I think everyone liked the game.

Table II had three players: Duane, Arleen S (new), and Brian S (new)

We started about 6:15 and played Duane’s game - King Me! We played three rounds in 44 minutes with the final score: Arlene S - 31, Duane - 42, and Brian S - 48

Brian then left. Duane and Arlene S played Duane’s game - Catan Dice Game. We played two games - beginner game and then advanced game. Arlene had a great
case of beginner’s luck while Duane couldn’t get hardly anything. 15 rolls later Arlene wins with 64 points to D’s 35 pts. We then moved to the advanced game which is not played by turns but by score like the real game… towns 1 pt. & cities 2 pts. Knights and roads only counted at end of game for
longest road 2 pts and best army 2 pts. Arlene won this also with a score of 10 to 5 having both best army and longest road. Both games took 42 minutes.

Connor then joined us for a game of Nature Fluxx. New to all of us (as it was just opened in front of everyone) it plays like normal Fluxx but with the Nature theme. We actually went though an entire deck before Connor played the winning goal card 28 minutes after starting.

Arlene then departed and Connor and Duane played Catan Dice Game, the advanced game. Connor won in 24 minutes with the score of 10 to 9 with Connor having Best Army and Duane having longest road.
