Tuesday, 10/03/17 6 to 9 PM at the Hulen Mall food court, at 4800 South
Hulen Street, in southwest Fort Worth, TX.

On this eventually rainy evening, we eventually had 12 folks, including newcomers: Elise P, Kellan G, Grant P, and Evan B.

Table #1 - First Meg W’s Carcassonne, which I believe was new to the rest. Andreas sat the game out. Scores: Meg W 107, Elise P 101, Grant P 51, Kellan G 51, Evan B 38.

Next, Trevor’s Cosmic Encounter. Meg sat the game out, and Grant left. Scores: Elise P 5, Evan B 4, Kellan G 3, Trevor G 3, Andreas W 2.

Table #2 - My Amun-Re, which was new to Michael L and Chris K. I was randomly selected (by the Egyptian gods) to begin the game as Pharaoh. Over the course of the Old Kingdom (turns 1-3) Connor concentrated on three of the four temples
(I took the forth). At the end of turn three the flood marker was at its highest, level 4. So those that had farmed earned a great amount of gold. Michael L got the 5 point bonus at the end of turn three for having the most pyramids in a province on the west side of the Nile, while I got it for the east side. Emanuel and Chis spent most of their effort on farming. So they began the New Kingdom with a lot of money, but hardly any victory points. At the end of the Old Kingdom the scores were; Michael W 19, Michael L 14, Connor 12, Chris K 3, Emanuel 1. Connor, who *always* goes against conventional wisdom
(and any advice I give him), made all his points via temples, as he didn't build a single pyramid! That was the first time I'd seen anyone do that.

I think Chris K began the New Kingdom (turns 4-6) as Pharaoh. Later I regained the office, then finally Emanuel. During this second half of the game there was
a lot of pyramid building. Plus the auctions for provinces were quite critical
as now most provinces began with some pyramids. This is where Chris and Emanuel's money edge came into play more than once. I had hoped to regain the double pyramid I'd built on the east side of the Nile. I bid 15, but Chris was able to outbid me with 28. Rats! So I shifted my focus to temples, and gained two of the four. Unfortunately the flood level never rose to level four again. In fact, for all of the New Kingdom it remained at level 1 or 2. So I only made
4 points for my two temples. During scoring after turn six Chris and Michael
both got the 5 point bonus for most pyramids on the east side of the Nile and I got it alone for the west side with a quadruple pyramid in Memphis (as a tribute to Elvis). This improved both their scores substantially. I feared Michael L would overtake me.

At this point the scores were: Michael W 40, Michael L 35, Chris 29, Connor 24,
and Emanuel 16. Then bonus points for the most gold were added. Emanuel gained
6 points for having the most (49). Connor made another 4 points for second most (47), and Michael L had the third most (36), giving him 2 more VPs. Chris and I had 31 gold each, which is a fair amount, but not enough to be worth bonus points.

Final Scores: Michael W 40, Michael L 37, Chris K 29, Connor 28, Emanuel 22.. Duration: two hour and 11 minutes. Everyone enjoyed the game (except Emanuel who grumbled bout coming in last, like the last time he played a year ago).

Being Pharaoh has some perks. Of the seven times, I was Pharaoh three times..
believe the others were all Pharaoh once.
