    I have synchronet setup as a point with my node running binkd and it
    works wonderfully. My SBBS setup is running binkit.

    Probably a small problem and no donations will be needed, we just need to
    find out what the problem is then we can work out a solution.

    What is or is not happening on your node?

    Thanks Al. I don't want anyone to pressure. The problem is the dutch fidonet hub doesnt work with the files mentioned in the guide for installing fidonet on

    I emailed with the Dutch fidonet hub and he sees my request comming
    in. He send me a test netmail but I dont receive/see it:

    I don't see a netmail in this session but you did get a nodelist along
    with a tic.

    10/31 12:15:05a 2028 BINKP Received file:
    C:\sbbs\temp\Z2DAILY.304 (158.0KB)
    10/31 12:15:05a 2028 BINKP Non-secure session type:
    'non-secure' 10/31 12:15:05a 2028 BINKP Moving 'C:\sbbs\temp\Z2DAILY.304' to 'c:\binkd\inbound\Z2DAILY.304'.

    I also see "Non-secure" session. Do you have a password setup with your
    hub? The Areafix, Packet and Tic passwords are not case sensitive, but
    the session password is so make sure you have entered the session
    password using the same case as your link.

    I can see from your log that your binkp (BinkIT) server is up and
    running and receiving files, so that's good.

    When you need to send net or echomail to your link the binkout and/or
    binkpoll events will do that. Your hub may not toss incoming echomail
    from his unsecure inbound so I would double check your session password
    if you have one with that link.

    You can use tickit to toss incoming files into your filebase if you like
    and in the case of nodelists extract the nodelist and import it into your
    setup for your mailer to use and also a nodelist browser.

    http://wiki.synchro.net/module:tickit http://wiki.synchro.net/module:fido-nodelist-browser

    I'm going to send a netmail directly to your node in a few minutes, just
    as a test.

    I posted logfiles with it. I dont know what the exact problem is, difficult to describe. the sysop of the fidonet hub wrote me the netmail is sent but I cant read it. The packages arrived.

    I saw another tip the session is non-secure and this would be a reason it's not
    working but the hub said they dont use secure. In his instructions he mentioned
    specific to enable non-secure sessions.

    maybe I can email the mail from him to you? it's partly in Dutch but the logfiles are ofcourse in English.

    thanks for thinking with me.

    1) I am not your hub, I am your NC.

    2) "They" use secure for regular links. However as a nodelisted Fidonet sysop you should be able to receive netmail from nodes with which you do not have a password protected link. So that is why I wanted to test that first. The link works. The *.pkt with the netmail was transfered from my system to your's. As I told you, I can not help you with the rest as I am totally unfamiliar with synchronet and what comes with it.

    In his instructions he mentioned specific to enable non-secure
    sessions.

    Which has nothing to do with your inability to process the *.pkt I send you.

    To All: Please help Hawkeye find his (un)secue inbound and guide him to the steps to process the *.pkts found there.

    Cheers, Michiel

    I think you (or your hub) is confusing security with encryption. They are, in this context, two different things.

    "Secure" in this context just mean authenticated (not necessarily encrypted). I'm pretty sure your hub supports BINKP authentication.

    The log I saw you posted here showed you receiving 2 files via BINKP, neither of which was a packet.
    Do you have log entries which show you receiving a packet (*.pkt
    file)?
    Have you looked for that/those files on your file system?

    I searched for .PKT and I found several.

    directories c:\binkd\inbound and c:\sbbs\temp

    Is "c:\binkd\inbound" listed in your sbbsecho.ini file?

    Is "c:\binkd\inbound" listed in your sbbsecho.ini file?

    Yes I checked :
    Inbound = c:\binkd\inbound\
    Outbound = c:\binkd\outbound\
    SecureInbound = c:\sbbs\fido\inbound

    Or should I change that SecureInboud to c:\binkd\inbound\ ?

    Thanks in advance

    do not make secure and unsecure inbounds the same...

    are your binkd inbounds specified the same as the above sbbsecho ones?

    Your secure and non-secure inbound directories should not be the *same* directory.

    They are not the same... so I don't get the answer...

    Inbound = c:\binkd\inbound\
    SecureInbound = c:\sbbs\fido\inbound

    What should I do now?

    So searching back through the thread, you earlier stated tihs:

    That means that you're receiving .pkt files in your non-secure inbound directory. Is this what you're expecting? Normally, only netmail packets from nodes that you don't have a formal relationship should be received into your non-secure inbound directory. Other packets (including all echomail) should be received in your secure inbound directory.
