Tuesday, 08/22/17 6 to 9 PM at the Hulen Mall food court, at 4800 South
Hulen Street, in southwest Fort Worth, TX.

We had eight gamers at two tables, including newcomers Kathleen and Peter.

Table #1 - First, Michael Z’s The Settlers of Catan (4th ed.). Scores: Zach
    10, Michael Z 7, Kathleen 3.

Then, Zach’s Valley of the Kings. Scores: Michael Z 55, Zach E 48, Kathleen 36.

Table #2 - First, my Priests of Ra, which was new to Sonnett, Peter, and Michael L. To the best of my memory Emanuel took no tiles in epoch one, and therefore made no points. He did make up some lost ground in epoch two. And had
a so-so epoch three. Peter did well in epoch one, then mainly coasted in rounds two and three. Sonnett and Michael L were pretty consistent in making points throughout the game. I did well in epoch one, and so-so in epoch two. But I began epoch three with sun tiles: 3, 5, & 7. Oy! So the round was 90% over before I won a lot up for auction. Near the end I was the only player with
sun tiles left (two), hoping I didn't draw that last Ra tile out of the dwindling bag. I did get a very good lot with my penultimate sun tile. But then
the last Ra tile appeared nd I never got to use my third sun tile. Even so... my four Ankhs, and level 3 pyramid with three blue tiles, served me well in final scoring. No one built a level four pyramid. I think Sonnett and Michael
got to level three, and Emanuel to level two. I'm not sure Peter even did that.

    Scores: Michael W 64, Sonnett 46, Emanuel 40, Michael L 36, Peter 33. Duration:
one hour and 33 minutes. I believe everyone enjoyed the game.

Emanuel left and the rest of us played my Hibernia. Play order: Sonnett, Peter,
Michael W, then Michael L. It was new to my opponents. Even so, they did well.
In fact, Peter was crowding me so much the first half of the game with his aggressive attacks, I feared he'd keep me in 4th place. Yet by turn four we'd all gained about the same place, 30% of the way round the score track. There were some minor surges up the track after that, but no one jumped far ahead.

On the next to last turn Michael L surged, and got within three spaces of the end goal. Which... scared everyone else. So we all landed on him like a ton of bricks. That allowed me to slip by him on the score track (rolling white on the
die really helped). In theory Michael L might still win, as he'd get to play last. But he desperately needed a red province to advance, and we'd made that impossible.

As the game has no numbers on the score track (only colors) I indicate players scores by how much they exceeded (or failed to reach) the start space.

    Scores: Michael W +2, Michael L -3, Peter -5, Sonnett -5. Duration: 37 minutes.
I think my opponents liked the game.
