From Electrosys@1:103/705 to All on Sun Sep 8 07:27:29 2019
    Hi Everyone,

Is the synchro.net dyndns working as usual? Anyone know of a way to query the synchro.net dns to see what the current Ip is? I am having some issues in the last few days keeping my ip up to date. I'm running the board over VPN and its possible the the kill switch is being activated more frequently than usual. Or I'm just noticing this issue now because smoething with DYNDNS changed?

    Thanks,

I'm not sure about querying the synchronet DYNDNS but you can use host to see what DNS ruturns for your host.

On *nix, you can use the 'host' or 'dig' commands to resolve hostnames to IP addresses (or vice versa), e.g.:
    # host digiaqua.synchro.net localhost
    Using domain server:
    Name: localhost
    Address: 127.0.0.1#53
    Aliases:

    digiaqua.synchro.net has address 208.91.65.123
    root@cvs:/var/log# host digiaqua.synchro.net ns1.synchro.net
    Using domain server:
    Name: ns1.synchro.net
    Address: 71.95.196.36#53
    Aliases:

    digiaqua.synchro.net has address 208.91.65.123

On Windows, you can use the 'nslookup' comand.

Which package is the host program in? I don't have a host program in win7 where
im hosting the board, and archilinux doesn't have a host program either which is hosting the windows 7 vm.

    In debian-basted Linuxes, it's in the bind9-host package: https://packages.debian.org/buster/bind9-host

I just discovered that there is a program called pkgfile which will tell you which package has a particular program that your looking for.

    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=103464

All of host, dig and delv are in completly different packages for ArchLinux than the ones you mentioned.

Is the synchro.net dyndns working as usual? Anyone know of a way to query
the synchro.net dns to see what the current Ip is?

use host or traceroute and query your QWKname.synchro.net and see what IP it returns... then compare that with what you expect it to be... if there's a difference, they we need to figure out why you are not seeing what you are expecting to see...
