Keyboards normally have separate backspace and delete keys.. What exactly would you be toggling in the user settings?

you really should try the new features ;)

but in my case, when i'm logged in from the console using ssh, my backspace sends the delete command so i end up deleting the character my cursor is under instead of the one just before it... CTRL-H works as expected... it is a new thing from the recent updates and one that has a specific method of correcting within the BBS...

And to this end they built themselves a stupendous super-computer which was
so amazingly intelligent that even before its data banks had been connected
up it had started from "I think therefore I am" and got as far as deducing
the existence of rice pudding and income tax before anyone managed to turn
    it off.

In the latest code, it should ask you to hit your backspace key when you change your 'T'erminal type. That's what sets that option. If you want it to prompt (ask) you to explicitly confirm whether to swap the backspace/del keys, then you need to set the SwapDeleteKeyQ string in the text.dat to a question.

Some terminals (e.g. xterm) send 0x7f (DEL) when the backspace key is struck. He's toggling whehther or not SBBS will treat 0x7f as a backsapce or a delete key.

ahh! there it is!!! thank you, sir! it works a lot better now...

i'm curious, though, what will happen when i log back in with syncterm, netrunner, or another terminal program... probably an interesting problem to try to solve if an automatic solution is even available...

    thanks again!

You'll have to change it back.

The only "automatic" thing I thought of was to prompt for the backspace key on every login (sort of how C64 BBSes often do). But that's kind of annoying.

    thanks again!

    No problem.
