    i actually created a fake somewhat functional BBS in baja for a blocked user to get booted to. anything i didnt want to code i put in the msg 'error! report to sysop!'

    then i realized, why not just block the asshole.

    Now that's a lot of effort, I was more thinking a security level that pushes any user into an effective "black hole" when it comes to messaging.

    Either that or forces them into chat with the Guru and nothing else.

    Shadow bans can be useful - it may take the asshole a while longer to realize that they've been effectively blocked, and by then they've wasted time and energy posting crap that nobody ever saw.

    They could - and probably eventually *would* - go looking to see if their posts are making it out, but they're unlikely to do it right away. The point is to cause them a bit of frustration for a while before they catch on.

    I imagine that shadow bans on other platforms are easily detectible, eg. log out of your account and see if your posts are visible to a guest / other user.

    Anyway, I'm not advocating for this as a feature, just sayin'.

    Modern forums call that shadowbanning, except they can apply it to an entire forum.

    Modern forums call that shadowbanning, except they can apply it to an

    that 'echo chamber' concept can be be as simple as setting the Access Requirements for each Message Group or individual Sub (ie: Set User Number x) ... that that would only apply to users on your system, if that user logged onto another system you'd still get their message unless you also set a corresponding twit entry :-P
