• Newbie Remote Control Car

From Roger@3:770/3 to All on Fri Aug 13 09:16:26 2021
Hoping to get direction here to get started.

Use a Pi 4 to do the car computer.

Need motion and vision (live camera).

Want autonomous control like bluetooth or other. Not WiFi !
I want to use outdoors in the field.
    What options are available ?

Want to use an Android tablet for vision and control.
What tablet features do I need to look for ?

Are there kits or detailed instruction available.
    Links please.

    Thank you !

Are you a member of an RC car racing group or the British Car Racing Association (or similar national body if you don't live in the UK)?

If not, then joining a local club is probably a good start.

Try your local friendly hobby store if you still have 'em in CA - they're
a vanishing form of retail in the UK.

Failing that, a web search for "California RC Car Racing" should find you
some contacts - DuckDuckGo worked for me.

Best to visit an RC model car meet or a specialist hobby shop and ask
there: I'm a free flight model flyer and sailplane pilot who once dabbled
in slotcar racing so you already know everything I ever knew about model
    cars.

OTOH, it you decide to use a RaspberryPi Zero or Pico as the base for a
model car control system, then this is the place to come.

The biggest threat to humanity comes from socialism, which has utterly
diverted our attention away from what really matters to our existential survival, to indulging in navel gazing and faux moral investigations
into what the world ought to be, whilst we fail utterly to deal with
    what it actually is.

Model cars and planes use Wifi frequencies already (2.4Ghz). FPV
    generally uses another frequency

several online stores sell kits. Building a kit will give you
experience and ideas for your own design.
