On 30 Oct 2023, Mike Powell said the following...

Some will claim they didn't break any laws until they started shooting but, last I checked, making terroristic threats is a chargable offense. Also, having a gun, he was breaking whatever flag law they have up
there. One thing I have not kept up with was whether or not it was his gun or one he obtained through being a member of the armed forces.

Family members were worried about his mental state and reported it beforehand. They should have been able to have him committed but the law now makes that real hard for anyone but the person themselves to do.

U R correct mentioning that a lot of the recent, and not so recent, shooters have been known to the authorities. This is all just made to distract us or take away our rights in some way.

I think we need to get back to the time when people with serious mental issues are put in institutions. It is obvious that the "mainstreaming" experiment, or whatever they call it, has failed. Then again, the politicians would just use "mental illness" as another weapon against their enemies.

The Maine shooter was known to the government for weeks prior, apparently
    tte
ng threats prior to the event. Maine has some kind of red flag laws... they

    l yellow flag laws...

It is not just the Maine shooter. Many of the recent (and not so recent) shooters were known to either Federal or local authorities. The fellow who went on the racist spree in a store in Buffalo was known to them.

Either 1 of 2 things happened... The government is soooooooooooo stupid and
    n
t at any level to protect it's citizens... Or... They used a man who was
    ent
ly messed up, triggered him enough where he went out and killed a bunch of
    eo
e... New Speaker of the house is voted in, mass shooting to follow.

I'm for the second explanation... Government is soooooooooooo corrupt.

I think it is a mix of all of the above. They are somewhat stupid, and
they may be sitting on such cases until the mentally ill person carries out
a fantasy and becomes another "useful idiot" in the government's fight
    against the Second Amendment.
