Why do you want to ban books?

Libraries are not giving pornography to children.

If you search online, you should be able to find at least two instances
where a parent went to a school board meeting and attempted to read aloud a book that was available in their elementary schooler's library. In the case in particular that I posted about here several weeks ago, the board made
the parent stop reading because the reading of "pornography" (THEIR word)
was not allowed at school board meetings.

I have not seen pornography in a school library. It has been years since I visited a library but I don't think you will find pornagraphy there.

If you find pornography there then sure, remove it.

I could not figure out how they could justify having such a book in the school library that was so unfit it could not be read aloud at a board meeting.

Is that the norm?

I have seen the illustrations from some of the books that people wanted included in school libraries. As the illustrations depict sexual acts, I disagree that it is not porography and also disagree that it should be available in an elementary school library for kids who are 10 and under to find.

I agree. I don't know how that kind of material found it's way into the library and it is good to remove it.

This new "Ban the Books" drive is a little much, don't you think?

The bible has been banned in a number of places. Books on black history have been banned. What good is that?

I am not sure but, in this case, they did not want to hear the parent's complaint about it and also did not want it read aloud so, in that
district, I would not be surprised.

I agree it is an overreation, but it was a predictable reaction considering some of the demands from others (to have the books like I describe above readily available in elementary school libraries).

If they had been smart, and not made such outlandish demands, I don't think
we would be seeing the book banning movement gaining any steam.
