The polls cited was taken in 2018, showing two definitions and
results from the year 1949 and 2018. The differences are notable.
Socialism isn't more government. It's about democratic ownership
and control. But MAGA idiots might not be capable of understanding
that concept.

What are the political implications of describing any form of
government spending as socialism?
And it will probably always continue to sound great. It is only when
you go beyond rhetoric, and start looking at hard facts, that socialism
turns out to be a big disappointment, if not a disaster.
And yet here I am, a living proof that it actually works and has been for more than a century.
The concept of socialism has been around for as long as man has walked
this earth. But only in truly communitarian societies has it ever been
remotely successful.

Yeah, she really is someone to look up to. She caused more damage to the UK
than her idol, the B-movie actor, did to the US.

Do you really not understand that the opening words, "We the People", represented a new thought: the idea that the people and not the states were
the source of the government's legitimacy?
Kind of like "we the participants" in fidonet echoes.
If *YOU* own all the important stuff, like health care system, housing system, public transportation system, banking system and so on, don't you think that would be better than now, when private multibillion dollar corporations own and reap the benefit from them, rather than you? Well, that's socialism in a nutshell.

* universities
* community colleges
* water supplies
* sewers
* mass transit systems
All are, in a sense, socialist.
Imagine what what happen if there was no garbage collection.
Things would get very smelly around one's home ...
And here' another shocker for you: if you've understood the Gettysburg Address phrase: "government of the people, by the people, for the people" you would know that the government should be equal to *YOU* and not to a bunch of corrupt politicians governed by whomever have the millions to buy the best *for* *them* legislation.
Oh, come now. Everybody knows Lincoln copped that speech from General
Lee and used it to his own advantage. I mean, the South had won almost
every battle in The War until the battle at Gettysburg - only because
some horses got stuck in the mud while making a charge. Which is why
no sane Southerner ever names a kid Pickett.
Finally, have you been told that e.g. in 2018 the average worth of one hour
work by the US workers was $72.36? The difference between $7.25 and even $15 goes directly into the pockets of all the wealthy people that does not even pay reasonable taxes. Another disgrace that is being fixed in a socialist society...
We ditched fiat money way back in 1861, and even had our own printing
press in New Orleans ...
The first socialist community in the USA was established in Louisiana,
and had a population of a few hundred people. That was before the days
of FDR, who decided to use that idea as the basis for his New Deal ...
