Winpoint is quite nice as it integrates well with a Windows environment.
I also tried to contact the author (I found a trail that led me to an address at a Univerisity in Germany, @hshl.de) Is that the same destination you found?

WinPoint has some bugs, but not fixed for a long time. Software is very important for survive of fidonet points and nodes.

Hi Fernando, I agree with you. Fidonet needs an easy to use software to increase its following. Winpoint despite its problems is a good solution. pity that the developer has not gone ahead with the development. :-( Best regards

Of course, not easy to configure for beginner fidonet user. We have experience for many years, but young users not. Thanks for document!. =)

My idea is to try to develop a script that automatically configures OpenXP, so I will read the manual and see what i can do. :)
Well I got Winpoint running at least, but I installed it on my 32bit
emulator, checked for 64 bit and it works but to no avail of traffic.
Very fast setup and tons of German, since I am a huge VW fan I guess I can
live with some German for now.
I like how huge everything is The text is awful small though.

If you have knowledge of the German language then the more
sophisticated areas of the program should be easy to work with. Power
to you.
It got confusing in the file requests and message templates sections.

BTW.. Top-posting is not working for me very well. Most of my replies will be the conventional bottom method.
frankly, top posting stinks worse than dead rotten skunk carcasses...
bottom posting is ok but in-line is much preferred since it is a more
conversational presentation and allows the reader to understand the flow
of the conversation much much better...

I concur.
So, I have been trying to get WinPoint working on my 64 bit windows, to
no avail.
I want more NETS, such as SCINET and others.
Can Winpoint be used to be a point off of other Nets?

Indeed. Not sure about the old version, but with the recent releases you can.
I suggest you get connected to the WINPOINT echo.

it crashes on startup due to likely multiple installation attempts. MSG button is greyed out. Attempt to poll does not work.
I am using winpoint on my 32 bit machine and it works, just means I have to use my TCP/IP KVM to use it.
The problem is that I have the underling impulse to want to fix it and make it do what I want.
Man this gets hard on the head after a while.

Sorry I could not find WinPoint on the BBS.
My problem after installing 4.07 on my fresh Windows 10 64 bit machine
is that it keeps wanting 2: for the first addressing while writing a
letter and it does not go out.
NOW it comes up with "List Index out of bounds:
Language is German.
Could someone punt this one to WinPoint for me.
I am in a BBS editor (Doc's Place). Will ask him for Winpoint.
