    Greeting all,

Has there been any traction on getting the WinPont echo operational?

    Thx,

Was there ever "the" Winpoint echo?

When Tim S is ready to announce a new revived version of his
program, it may be handy to have a dedicated echo.

I have an archive of about 314 messages here dated from April
2019 onward that contain the string winpoint.

I've been creating the subject line thusly - Sub: [software:]
followed by something topical or relevant to the message within.

I've experimented with Apoint as well.

    I really like Winpoint's built-in rot thirteen feature. That's
handy for echos where one may like to post a spoiler or a
contest clue. It's nice not to have to rely on an internet
connection just to decode a string at rot13.com.

It's been Elisted for a couple of months now but as yet I haven't seen any mail. Perhaps Dale needs to "seed" the echo ?

Nope but there's always been a German WinPoint echo. For anyone that's interested, the echo tag is fidosoft.winpoint.ger

When Tim S is ready to announce a new revived version of his
program, it may be handy to have a dedicated echo.

See my earlier post about this, echo tag is WINPOINT, request it from your BossNode(s) :)

    Martin

Sometimes requests previously non-configured echos just bounce
    back with "no such echo".

As per you earlier mention of this, the echo was indeed elisted
    2 months ago! I didn't even notice. Moderators/creators need
to take advantage of the announcement systems such as ECHO_ADS
or something - and give the headsup to echo distributors in
general. The announcement or "pleas add" protocol in Z1_BACKBONE
    seems to have been abandoned.

That can happen. I have asked for a list from several links and so far I don't see the area listed anywhere. I'll try again in a week or two..

Can you please confirm which big echomovers have the echo

I posted when I created it a welcome message but have not posted since. It should be available via the backbone but I can check with those that handle the mail flow.

I thought Janis' echolist featured in the 'gazette was a good
representation of what was backboned. But I've never seen the
    winpoint echo in there, yet.

I have not found a link for the area in my links. If you can get the area on the backbone that would be great.

Failing that maybe we can just link between interested nodes.

Of my (about) 20 links only 3:712/848 has it. 6 Are forwarding the request to their link(s). Sometimes that will get you an other connection...

    Bye, Wilfred.
