    Hello All.

I try to join the nets from Gert Andersen since weeks, but there is always some problems in his systems configuration, and he barely answers my messages. and if he answers i can hardly understand what he wants.
But these systems seems to be a big mess, so do you think is it worth to
join ? are there any messages on those networks or just bots posting ?

Virnet for example seems to be a big mess in the nodelist. Hungary is
still in there, but the boards are not working since 20+ years. even i
have my nodenumber in the nodelist, but now Gert gave me a new nodenumber.

    thanks,

quite simply, absolutely not... there's nothing there any more... most all of those networks were sundowned by their original maintainers because traffic simply disappeared as the internet became more and more used by the
users and operators of the systems carrying the traffic... nothing has been preserved and too much has been lost... it just is not worth the effort...

    Daniel,

I try to join the nets from Gert Andersen since weeks, but there is always some problems in his systems configuration, and he barely
answers my messages. and if he answers i can hardly understand what he wants. But these systems seems to be a big mess, so do you think is it worth to join ? are there any messages on those networks or just bots posting ?

I was connecting to Gert's BBS to send out packets, but I didn't see a
single packet come back in several weeks. It was as if I was doing the
only posting...so for now, I removed all his networks from my system.

I also recently had GatorNet dropped into my lap. I had told Kris Jones
that I wouldn't mind taking it over, but I'd need pointers on getting
things set up, as I had never run a network before.

Unfortunately, that help NEVER came. I found out second hand that Kris' server died, and he felt with "no traffic" (apparently only my autoposts
were going in), plus other things in his life, he decided to "pull the
plug". So, with what I have, I'm basically redoing GatorNet from scratch.
With other things outside the BBS, I'm working to get it back up, but I'm
not in a big hurry to do it.
