I'm running WSEB v4.52 under VMWare. The installation is very old, it was converted from a real computer to VM just a few months ago. :)

Congrats! It took me a while to get it up and running with network support :) VirtualBox 6 actually added a lot of nice stuff to OS/2 guest additions.

I have it running on my home mac, most of the time I use it only for FleetStreet and nostalgia.

That was my plan, and it still is. When the old motherbord died, I had to quickly decide what to do. I had a spare mobo, but it was also so old that I decided to go virtual.. So this system is running in vmware workstation now until I have time and hardware to put it in esxi.

I simply took out the harddisk, put it into usb docking station and converted it to .vmdk disk image. Not much to do after, just to replace the network drivers. Pretty painless operation.

Ah, okay. Some of our r24 nodes running vmware esxi. I do not like this idea, because I have not a (however called 'proper') operatingsystem underneath.

Thanks a lot for the information. What sort of nic-driver do you use with vm-ware workstation? The old intel-nic driver?

I like the idea of snapshotting. :)

Old "ibm pci ethernet adapter". That one got autodetected and I had no reason to try any other ones. Yet. :)

<fg> Just take a look at FreeBSD. Snapshots are widely used and very common.
My plan is, to have freebsd as operatingsystem and vmware workstation for virtualization. For this I need a much better board and cpu than now. My ecomstation 2.1 runs on an gigabyte j1900 low energy board. With also very low (cpu) power....

    Nice! :)

I am having a 'simple' problem. I can't figure out how to get OUT of full-screen mode. it says press the 'host-f' button (alt or cntrl-f) and I still can't get out of full screen mode. Can't find any settings to do it before booting....

    Any ideas?

That's much newer than the mobo my OS/2 was running. (Aopen MK77M II with Athlon XP) ;)

Crtl-Alt-Enter in vmware workstation, but if you're using virtualbox... I don't have virtualbox around. ;(

His designated 'host' key ought to work with an "F" keypress, to toggle full screen on/off. (There again, I'm still using vBox v5.2.22 on my Xubuntu 32-bit host. Will upgrade my other Xubuntu 64-bit host to vBox 6.xx tomorrah or day after,) This may be a dirty word around these here parts, but I prefer working with 'windows' rather than full screen. ;)

    Cheers,
    Paul.

If you're going to install MacOS on a PC host you will need some tricks.
In the end, I wasn't satisfied with the overall performance of MacOS running in
    VBox.
