• Symphonic Metal

From Charles Pierson@1:153/757.26 to All on Wed Nov 18 07:27:20 2020
    Hello, All.

I get emails from time to time from "independent" artists I stumble across now and again.

This came from one known as Imperial Age, a symphonic metal group.

If you like this genre of music (Nightwish is in the playlist) and you use spotify, you might give it a go.

    The email I received follows:

    Hi Charles!

I have finally realized my long-lasting idea and set up a Spotify Playlist for all Symphonic Meta Lovers!!

I tried to include the newest songs from both big and small bands, as well as all-time classics.

I also went a bit broader than people normally go - instead of focusing on the handful female-fronted or always-symphonic metal bands such as Epica, Nightwish and WT, I included tracks from other bands which combine orchestra and metal such as (Ensiferum, Manowar, Wintersun etc), and a lot of male-fronted symphonic metal (Avantasia, Rhapsody etc).

The playlist even has some symphonic black metal (Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth etc), not normally included in such compilations :)

And of course it has a couple of songs from Imperial Age :))

I will be updating this list regularly and if you feel that some new hit is missing, please let me know asap!

Meanwhile, feel free to follow the playlist and explore it: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2yCqbxs4ztf1kmRTIIujeo?si=Q0feS2_0TGyhgL3zI2A lxA

P.S. If you think this is a good idea, please share the playlist on your social media!! ;)

I listened to a couple of songs of them on YT. They are ok, like the male singers voice. But I don't get the vibe like I get with Nightwish songs. ;)

    Bye, Wilfred.

There are several other groups on the playlist that's linked.

I've used Spotify before, but I don't regularly stream music.

I checked it out because I saw it had an app for Roku, and I considered it to play music in the house while I'm doing things, since I haven't found a good spot for my stereo since we rearranged the living room and changed out the TV stand for a different console.

Many of this are quite good and "fit" the Nightwish sound that
    I like.

I'm surprised that Evanescence (rock + some nice rock ballads)
or the Northern Kings are not on the list.

Ooops.. one song by the Kings is at the end of the list.

Ofcourse, one song sample by an artist is not indicative of
    the whole catalog

I'm not sure Evanescence really qualifies as symphonic metal. She does do the Choir Girl vocals well though.

It's more like a sampler type playlist. And I do believe he mentioned adding things later.
