    Simply Red - Blue
    CD, Album [1998]
    Eastwest Records CD 23097
    Barcode (String): 639842309721

I just noticed that track 1, Mellow My Mind, has a click at
about 4-5 sec interval all through the song. Even the Spotify
    version has it!

Can some who has Apple Music or another streaming service check
    for that?

I'm not surprised that I missed noticing that one because I
usually cued up other songs on that recording more often.

I have that track saved in ogg format and I get the same thing. Never even noticed but maybe I was not listening to closely.

It sounds like maybe it was ripped from vinyl.

    Hello Alan!

It sounds like maybe it was ripped from vinyl.

The clicking interval isn't consistent with 33rpm.

33rpm would be close to 1/2 revolution per sec. .: if the
click is every 4-5 seconds, it does not compare to 33rpm.

But it does *sound* like the song was playing on bad vinyl. :/

Some kind of technical issue with that track.

If it's on the master there is no getting away from it.

I was just revisiting the entire recording tonight. When track
7 started, I was thinking "Man.. that sure sounds familiar to
    another tune!"

    Here they are together:

See if you can name the 2nd tune!

I suppose "riffs" are not copyrightable?

It can happen. Anita Baker did an entire album and then had to destroy it because of some technical issue with the recording/master in the late 90's or early 2000's.

    Jack & Diane, by Mellencamp.

I'm now thinking that maybe Simply Red's version of that track,
"The Air That I Breathe", is kinda like an homage to "Jack &
Diane"? The reference would fit. The rhythm of Mellencamp's
song is all through Simply Red's version.

    A wikipage reference says:

"The Air That I Breathe Reprise" samples "Jack and Diane" by
    John Mellencamp.

But there is no mention of the pop/click in Neil Young's song
    of Track 1. :(
