... Sir, am I to understand that you people sell dead, fried birds here?
Hello, August... I've seen you in other echoes from time to time, but
I don't think I've seen you here in MEMORIES before... if that's true,
I just wanted to welcome you to our little domain... pull up a chair
and join us around the potbelly stove... <G>

Chicken, or course.... <G>
... It's a widely held misperception that it tastes like chicken

I see that in so many cartoons -- on cows, rattlesnakes, etc.
Thanks for the welcome. I've been here in this echo before, but it was
many years ago. I *think* I popped in here with a post a few times
around 2000 to 2003, but I can't confirm. But I did spend most of the
time lurking.
Well, then, it's about time you came out of lurking... <G>
I do believe my mom contributed a few posts every now and then..

Was she also an Abolins...? Not sure if I remember the name...
She also followed COFFEE_KLATSCH and a few others.
I never got into that echo... I was very active (until it all moved to
the web) in the Genealogy echoes... :)
I think I tried to email or netmail you about something (many years
ago), but then I learned you were in the hospital.
I probably responded once I got home... ;) Perhaps that was in 2005 when I broke my ankle....?
Hello, August
I second that. Glad to have you (back) with us. Joe Mackey, mod

I'll keep that in mind... we recently had a Chick-Fil-A store open in
the area....

It seems to be the fall-back description of any white, somewhat bland meat.... ;)

Reminds me of a comic I saw a while back. Showed a rooster sitting at a SD>table at a restaurant and a hen is taking his order. The hen asks the SD>rooster, "May I take your order?" The rooster replied "Give me a minute. SD>Trying to find something that doesn't taste like me." :D

it is indeed but....... with a little preparation and just a smidgen
of good herbs and spices it can be very tasty. :)

I like chicken ok, but not so much white meat chicken... which is all
that Chick-Fil-A sells, as I understand.... a few of my nieces/nephews have worked for their local one(s)...

Yes, I imagine a lot of bland-ish things would indeed benefit from a
bit of spicing up... :) The point I'd make though, is that just
because it is somewhat bland and might somewhat resemble the taste of chicken, it might actually have a nice taste of its own... such as
rabbit does, or frog legs... ;)

Or as the one routine with ventriloquist Jeff Dunham, and his dummy
(or ventriloquial figure) Peanut...in an argument of mispronounciation over Jeff's last name (of course, he's doing it all, with vocal inflections, puppet movements, etc., so you think the puppet is
actually "alive").
Jeff's last name is Dunham, but Peanut argued it's "Done
Ham"...adding "You're The Other White Meat". <G>

well different stokes for different folks I guess. :) That just
leaves more of that white meat for me then I guess. :)

hehehehe, well there is that but you can add flavor to enhance the
taste of the meal without overpowering it too. Even when we barbeque
that old stapel... hamburgers we tend to add a few flavorings. Just
makes it taste better IMHO but like anything else I guess... don't
want to overdo it. :)

The problem I have is not everything tastes like chicken; it just has
no taste.
Then again that could be said about me also. :D
And have you gone yet... and did you get your peach milkshake...?

Yes on both counts. My Mom had to be ambulatoried on Monday to a
North Little Rock hospital from the nursing home in Lonoke, due to a
rapid decline in her condition, due to an infection. I was in the E.R. with her for a short time...but had to leave when the new patient in
the next area started vomiting, I didn't want my sympathy sickness/squeamishness kicking in. There was a Chick-Fil-A just down
the street.
That was convenient... :) And was the peach milkshake everything you NB>expected it to be....? <G>
I trust you went back to be with your mom afterwards...? Hopefully she NB>was easily stabilized once she was at the hospital... :)

<BELCH!> Excuse me...yep. :)

I visited her last Friday in the nursing home. With that patient in
the next area "hurling", I didn't want to go back there. I explained
that to her when I saw her last Friday.
With the stormy weather this week, I won't get to see her again
until next week sometime.
