I have a freeware proggy called Chrome that works just fine, & if I need an alternative browser to test/rule out something, I have Firefox.

I use Firefox and have since the days of Navigator. :)
I find it very stable and have problems very rarely.
For backup I use Edge, Chrome, Brave and something else. I prefer Chrome over the other others but haven't used anything but FF in a long time.

I was talking to 'tech support'

Most of those guys are early 20 somethings and know little or nothing of
    the older programs.
There have been times I've had to call Comcast tech support for some
problem (usually dealing with a connection, or lack thereof). Being an early riser I found if I call between 0530-0700, I get in on the second ring.
Huntington has a free wifi service, from Comcast, which I can use on my laptops and phone. Plus my free account with Marshall.
Most of the problems I've had not connecting with my PC, which is hard
wired, is weather or accident related with downed lines, etc.
One time it went out and after a day or so I called. That was on a
Friday morning and Sunday about noon a repair guy was here and turned out my old
modem had died. Got a new one (which has a router) and back in business.
I was really surprised when they sent a guy out on a weekend. He said
with so many people working during the week Comcast started that a few years ago. Better then having to take a day off and wait all day on them or have a neighbour waiting on them for m
