I've been lucky to not have a boss like this

I've run into several like that. Once they make sergeant they seem to
think they are above doing any real work.
They think their job is just supervise people.
I've never asked someone to do something I haven't done or willing to do
    or doing it with them.
    Sort of lead by example.

This was when I learned there can be a difference in sexes as managers.

There sure can be. Not always, but often enough it seems.
And then there are employees who pull the sex/gender card just as some
    play the race card.
Thankfully those are rare in my business.

She, however, with me was fine, mostly a flirt.

I had a woman working with me one time who flirted with nearly anything
in pants, but, if someone said something to her she got offended.
You wanna play that game sister, its a two way street.

Funnily enough, with his & Sam Walton's examples before them, the corporate world is now all about quick & easy maximum revenue, no matter the longterm cost.

    Unfortunately true.

Yep. Federal/state taxes, city user fee (actually a tax for working in the city, just not called a tax), unemployment, SS, and the list goes on.

So you get taxed by akll 3 levels of goverbment?!

Yep, and I forgot about the state sales tax of six per cent of everything
one buys. The only exception is food.
Then you have various federal sales taxes, in addition to income. Such
as federal (and state) taxes on gasoline.
There are also state property taxes on land and automobiles. If you own a business there are business taxes.
Everything is taxed at some point by some government agency and all these
are passed along to the ultimate consumer in higher prices.
One can tax a company on their product/services, but the company doesn't
pay that tax, its passed along in higher prices to the buyer all along the
    way.

I don't have a lot invested and frankly don't recall what the money is in. Half is in bonds. Pays little but safe, and half is in the market.

    Mutual Funds via your bank?

    Probably.

That's my understabnding, & per a fiend who is going grewat guns, began with buying US properties for taxes, fixing them up & renting to the government for Section-8 housing, or selling in bulk. He's puit some money into stocks & they've done well.

My landlord is into flipping houses as well.
He buys some run down house, slaps some paint on it and sells it.

Is he in the Mutual Admiration Society, too?

More of the Suck up to the Mod Society. :)

I never suck up to anyone (on purpose, &/or knowingly)

Nah, Daryl and I joke back and forth all the time.

If you get praise from me, it's sincere.

    I'm waiting... :)

IKR? I get that from people, too. ("They asren't real, you know, & you now nothing about them"); I can't just reply, "I know some better than you & trust them more." as that would be impolite.

I would tell those asking why I was visiting online friends I would tell
them I've known them for years.
But I brought death and destruction with me.
One woman I visited, (knew her from here) came down with brain cancer.
Another old friend died, and the wife of another friend died.
Plus others have had various health problems.
    One guy's dog died.
One city I visited erupted into riots the following year.
    Another town had immigration problems.

But I'm just the old fuddy duddyt who has no clue how things workm in today's world. I do & that's the sad thing. . . because I know better, but nobody cares to hear it -- I'n sure you've had the same problem, almost 20 years longer than I have!

One can learn a lot from the older generations.
I was always interested in history, and personal history as well, about
life before I was born so always enjoyed hearing their stories. (Unless the story was for the upteenth time). :)

No other way makes sense to me.

I didn't bite, as this woman was married & I don't play that.

One can tax a company on their product/services, but the company doesn't pay that tax, its passed along in higher prices to the buyer all along the way.

Same in Canada; all taxes are passed on to the consumer. Per piur Constitution, the federal government cannot tax us dirctly, so they can tax businesses, who then, as you note, pass the negative savings on to us!

But someone did the math & figured out there's far more revenue in directly raxiong everyt consumer the amnount they used to tax the manufacturers (&, the businesses then kept that previous, now removed, tax as profit & added the sales tax to this inflated value.)

My landlord is into flipping houses as well.
He buys some run down house, slaps some paint on it and sells it.

you get into the capital gains taxes pretty soon doing that, unless he lives in each for a year while fixing it up?

My buddy lives in Canada, buys/sells in the USA, & pays no taxes in either country!

If you get praise from me, it's sincere.

There you go. Reading comnprehension is perfect (J/King)

I would tell those asking why I was visiting online friends I would tell them I've known them for years.

I joined a lunch get together I organised for a local BBS, that had no photos online; I only knew each memnber by their conversations withme & others.

I arrived a little late, & walked in, & shook hands one by one with all twelve who arrived earlier, greeting each by name (one or two I added '?' but most I was certain of my estimate.)

My theory is that what we look like helps define how we were treated throughout our lives by others,& this, in t urn, shapes personality. I told this to a gal I chatted with regularly & she dared me to tell her something about what she looked like. I thought & said, "I'd guess your bra size is either a 34C or a 36B."

She disappeared from chast for a bit, coming back later to say shet had to leave, as she was freaking out (she was exactly between those two sizes and ownesd both sizes of bras in regular use)

That was the end of our ongoing flirtations, as I think I scared her too badly.
