People delete the incriminating files asap. (of course, I know how to shred them well & properly)

I don't have anything on my computer that would be incriminating. (Those
    are on CD's). :)
In fact I keep little on the pc at all, just things I use regularly (programs, apps, dox, etc). And those documents are also backed up on thumbs and CD/DVD. A couple actually since they sometimes fail.
A couple of my programs have a shredding option.

The lart stuff I did was jusdt to throw off trackers.

I use private mode, with a VPN, at times. I also clean out my cookies
daily, except for sites I regularly visit.
Each week I do a deep cleaning with various programs as well as defrag,
    etc.

I was doing nothing wrong. Simply reminding them that they don't have carte blanc in a free society.

    I use private/VPN sometimes simply because I don't want a bunch of
tracking cookies and such cluttering up my pc.

    Joe,

I don't have anything on my computer that would be incriminating.
    (Those are on CD's). :)

    Corruptible Data. <G>

In fact I keep little on the pc at all, just things I use regularly (programs, apps, dox, etc). And those documents are also backed up on thumbs and CD/DVD. A couple actually since they sometimes fail.

The Space Shuttle had triple redundancy. I try to do a weekly data backup
    on a Saturday.

A couple of my programs have a shredding option.

I think the Advanced System Care Suite from IObit Utilities has that, including shredding the recycle bin.

I use private mode, with a VPN, at times. I also clean out my
cookies daily, except for sites I regularly visit.

I've got VPN mode with the Opera Browser, and a separate VPN program,
but some ham radio programs that I have won't run when the VPN is turned
    on.

Each week I do a deep cleaning with various programs as well as
    defrag, etc.

I perform a defrag once a week, or when the system starts slowing. Rumor
has it that Microsoft is intentionally slowing down the older computers,
to FORCE folks to pay money to upgrade to Windows 11. But, if you run just 16-bit (legacy) or 32-bit programs, that STOPS with Windows 10...you will
have to have a 64-bit processor to run Windows 11.

I use private/VPN sometimes simply because I don't want a bunch of tracking cookies and such cluttering up my pc.

When told to delete cookies, I ate another Oreo. Darn...now I'm wanting something sweet. <G>

With the Opera Browser, I do a major clean of the cache, cookies, etc.
just before I exit the browser. Then, I run the Advanced System Care
utility I noted earlier, to delete any privacy issues, junk files, etc.

I think of the story of the woman (a blonde??!!) who brought her computer
in for service, as it wouldn't work anymore. She said "it was drunk from
too many pickled files, and it was slow". What she had done was delete the
DLL (dill) files...those are the critical data link libraries...no wonder
    her computer had crashed.

Then, you have the blonde who plugged the power strip into itself, and
could not figure out why it didn't work. Never mind "breaking the cup
holder" (the CD deal). These are the ones who are part of the story where
the PC tech got fired because he told them "You're too stupid to own a computer".

You can accomplish most of that just by using TOR browser.

It's also a handy access point to the Dark Net should you want to explore. .

I just like to explore & learn; occasionally I learn stuff that powerful others may want unrevealed, & I try to distance myself from it.
