I recall the Dr Demento radio show too. Often it was at late
night when AM signals had better reception. I have one LP of
    Dr. Demento "best of.." picks.

I found his show one night in the '70s and was hooked from the start.
But his show was often difficult to find, different hours on different markets, seemed to come and go without warning, etc.
Back in the day I had my cassette recorder ready for when something was played I wanted to keep. Those tapes all wound up in the dust bin of history as time passed.
Dr Demento looked a little like a older version of a college friend
(working on his doctorate in history) and they had a similar sense of humour. Duncan died a few years ago of kidney disease.
