To me, every day is a gift,

When asked how I feel about aging I often say I don't mind, I've known
too many people over the years who never had the opportunity.
I read something once, and will mangle it, to the effect that as we get
older we stop lying about our age and begin to brag about it.

pass what he considered was a slow moving car. All he had on was a
pair of shorts...no shirt, no helmet, no shoes. A mailbox on the
side of the road caught the handlebar of the motorcycle...it
stopped...he didn't...flying over the handlebar at a high rate of
speed, crashing to the ground. He broke his shoulder, ankle, and
    elbow, and fractured his hip.

    Sheesh.

    He's lucky to be alive

    True.

grandmother-in-law, my Dad, my wife, my best man, and my brother,
all within a years time from September 2006 to September 2007.

Not to make light of that, but I'm reminded of a man lying on his
deathbed, his family gathered around him, etc.
He tells his wife "you know when we first got married and I lost my job
we were with me". He goes on to give a litany of problems over the years and with each one he said "and you were with me".
At the end she's nodding and crying, squeezing his hand and he says, "And
I have one thing to say to you."
She leans over and asks what it is.
He then says, "I think you brought me bad luck".

    Joe,

When asked how I feel about aging I often say I don't mind, I've
known too many people over the years who never had the opportunity.

This is true...what about all those who died before puberty??

I read something once, and will mangle it, to the effect that as we
get older we stop lying about our age and begin to brag about it.

    I'm proud of every gray hair I have...and you've seen me. <G>

My late father said for years that he was 19...and I believed him!!
When I passed him, I smelled a rat...or as my late wife said "there's
something rotten in Denmark, and it isn't the codfish". Then, it got
to be "So, you're 19, and your son is 42. There must be something in
the water". <G> The same was said about the water in the church
bapistry, when so many women got saved and became part of the choir.
Not long after, they were becoming pregnant. It reminds me of the
blooper "All ladies wishing to become pregnant, please see the pastor
    in his study". <BG>

He then says, "I think you brought me bad luck".

To which, she pulls the plug on the instruments keeping him alive,
    and leaves the room. <BG>
