I'm with you on that... and have done most of my research in those old books.... but the current stuff is on the computers now....

Probably make it easier to find something with a search.

It sometimes does... I can just put the name in and look for what's
new... but it's still not easy to search by the property itself since as
far as I know, it doesn't allow for honing the parameters that much...

another and before I knew it hours had passed. And still didn't
have half of what I was there for in the first place. :)
Done that, many a time... :)

It would be nice if that were online and I could just download and
read it later, copy and paste what I'm looking for and save the rest
    for later.

Some of it may be, by now... I've not tried to do it online, just using
the computers at the courthouse.... :)

I'll have wine if with friends who are imbibing and offer to share, but otherwise not that much of a wine drinker either

    Same here.
Sometimes at a big to do at church we'll have mimosa and I always
joke "That's the best tasting orange juice!" :)

Just a little tastier from the additives... ;)

I do like my single malt scotch

I was never a scotch drinker. A cousin of mine was.

A college boyfriend of mine was into the top shelf blended scotches, and
I learned the taste from him... and then another friend tried a single
malt and had to share with me... been hooked on those ever since... :)

When I was in college at parties there would be Purple Jesus or
something. It was all grain alcohol with some grape juice, served
    from like a wash tub.

Somehow I missed out on that.... guess I didn't go to the right
parties... ;) To be honest, I didn't actually do much partying in
    college.... :)

Reminds me of the old joke: My grandmother was 95 when she died, and
never needed glasses. She drank right out of the bottle. :)

Sounds like a good backwoodswoman... ;)

When I was in college at parties there would be Purple Jesus or
something. It was all grain alcohol with some grape juice, served
    from like a wash tub.

we called that "Hunch Punch" or "Cowboy Koolaid" but HP was the more commonly used name... we served it from all manner of vessels, too... bathtubs, kiddie pools, kitchen sinks, ice chests, etc... anything that could hold large amounts of fluids...

Like I told Joe... I somehow missed that part of college... <G> I've
heard tell of it since, but never personally experienced it... ;)

we also added various sliced fruits to it... there's nothing quite
like watching someone eating kiwi, strawberry, and other fruit slices
from the tub and getting drunk off them... especially when they
"weren't drinkers" and "didn't touch the stuff" ;)

Didn't the tingle alert them....? ;) That could indeed be a rather
potent (and sneaky) way of imbibing.... ;)

i won't even mention the other alcohols that were also added in
addition to the grain alcohol, generally Everclear, but there were generally no less than 4 or 5 different liquors in what we regularly
    made and consumed O:)
grape juice was one of the ""thinners"" we added... there was also
fruit punch, clear soda like 7up, ginger ale, and similar... plus water when someone decided to use kool-aid packs...
no, i have no experiance with any of this

    Yeah, right.... <G>

It was pretty much a cheap way to have a party.
The host supplied the juice, "bowl", etc and everyone brought whatever
they had and poured it into that witches brew.
