    Joe,

And the size of these pills is ridiculous. I have a hard time if
they're not coated...but those potassium pills are more appropriately
named "horse pills", as they're huge. I have to cut them in half, or
    dissolve them in water.

Personally, I'd rather get an injection...even if it's in the hip, and
I have to drop my drawers for the nurse. But, nudity means nothing to them...yet, I know folks who won't go to the doctor, because "they don't
want them to see them nude". I can't convince them that "it's nothing
    that they haven't seen".

I'd rather be proactive on my health...then to do nothing, and find
out I don't have much time left to live.

It was really a PITA to them...and I don't mean the bread tortilla
that you put a salad in. <G> Burger King had a "salad in a pita" years

    like at the other places.

I miss the buffet's at the Pizza Hut's here. Only went a few times a
    year and really pigged out.
When I was in wholesale produce many moons ago all the restaurants
brought bulk lettuce, carrots, etc. In the late '80s bagged salads
became more popular. A lot easier on the prep cooks for sure.

I've heard Doctor Pepper described as "carbonated prune juice".
    That's a new one to me.... :)

Admittedly, I love the flavor. :)

I like the flavor, too... but I've never thought that it tasted like
prune juice... was the description more about the results...?

Around here, Arby's been Coke products as far back as I remember....

I guess it all depends on the franchisee.

Could be.... or possibly the area....?

Also, since it's Lent now, most fast food places that normally
don't have fish sandwiches, are serving them...to pick up the
    Catholic customers.
    Or to keep them... :)

    True...the almighty dollar.

They'd just call it sound business practice, I'm sure.... ;)

Plus, with eating apples, I need to "core them" before eating
them...my dentures will come out otherwise. :P Right now, though...
they fit so perfectly, that I don't have to use Fixodent, etc.
    That's a nice thing.... :)

I do have to be careful when I cough or sneeze...which I'm doing a
lot of now with this "crud". I'm going to the doctor tomorrow to get a steroid shot in the hip (might as well be in the butt) to try to stave
off pneumonia. The bad part of that is that it keeps me up all night.

Which... the shot itself, the steroid, or the pneumonia if you get
    it...?

I used to go for fruit cups, but was told to avoid them.
Was that because of the extra sugars in the juice or syrup...?

I don't remember the exact reason, but I try to avoid anything with oxalates...as that for me, leads to kidney stones.

I didn't think that fruit cups would have oxalates....

    Nancy,

I like the flavor, too... but I've never thought that it tasted like NB>prune juice... was the description more about the results...?

Well, it can be, if you drink too much liquid, as it becomes too much
for your digestive tract to absorb...and it leads to Uncle Monty Zuma
and his Crampa coming for a visit. :P But, too much Immodium can
    literally be fatal.

I guess it all depends on the franchisee.

Could be.... or possibly the area....?

Most all the other restaurants in the Little Rock area serve Coca-Cola products...a few serve Pepsi products.

They'd just call it sound business practice, I'm sure.... ;)

Being a frugal cheapskate, I look for the good deals.

Which... the shot itself, the steroid, or the pneumonia if you get
    it...?

The shot burns, and the steroid jacks me up to where I get insomnia.
The doctor said I don't have the flu (the test was negative), or
pneumonia (the lungs were clear), but a severe sinus infection. I've
always had sinus issues, but never with hay fever, pollen, etc. They did
an allergy test on me, and can't figure out why I'm having the sinus issues...but I hear that "having ones sinuses scraped" is very painful.
But, anytime you get something, even with medicine, it takes awhile for
    nature to run its course.

I didn't think that fruit cups would have oxalates....

From what I saw on WebMD, foods high in oxalate include:

Beans -- I enjoy green beans and baked beans, but the latter has a
    nasty side effect <G>.

    Beer -- I don't drink alcoholic beverages...although I like root beer,
it upsets my colon. Hard to say whether I prefer Dad's, Hires, Barqs, or A&W...all of them are good. I understand it's really "carbonated
    sassafras".

Beets -- Never cared for them.

Berries -- Never cared for them.

Chocolate -- This one is a stickler. I don't eat as much candy as I used
to, but every so often, I need something sweet. I try to avoid the ice
cream sandwiches with the chocolate as well. Some of the Little Debbie confections I enjoy, but there again, is chocolate.

Coffee -- Never cared for it. I think you have to acquire a taste for
    it.

Cranberries -- Only ate them on Thanksgiving...while I love cranberry
juice, this may be why I was told to avoid it.

Dark green vegetables, such as spinach -- that's fine with me...I don't
care for broccoli (sp?), spinach, etc. I do like green beans, though.

Nuts -- I used to eat the Planters Peanuts, but rarely do anymore.

Oranges -- This was only if I got the fruit cups...but I was told I
    should avoid them.

Rhubarb -- Never cared for it.

Soda (cola) -- This is another stickler. If I'm out, and my stomach is
upset, only Coca-Cola (original formula) or Ginger Ale, will settle it.
Pepsi is way too sweet. When they had "The Pepsi Challenge" on the local college campus 40 years ago, they hated to see me coming. No matter how
many crackers, etc. they gave me to try to disguise the taste, I always
    picked Coca-Cola. <G>

Soy beans and Soy milk -- Not a fan of soy products.

Sweet potatoes -- Only during Thanksgiving Meals.

Tea (black) -- Never had black tea. I used to drink sweetened ice tea
"by the bucketful" with lemon...but it's rare I drink it now.

Tofu -- Never cared for it.

Wheat bran -- Closest thing I got was raisin bran, but I haven't eaten
that in ages. It is EXTREMELY RARE that I eat breakfast...and when I do,
it's either biscuits with sausage, egg, and chese...or a breakfast
platter with the above and hash browns. It may be "the most important
meal of the day", but I'm rarely up before 9am, unless it's a medical
issue or something else. This idea of sleeping for 90 minutes, waking
up and being awake for 30 the entire night is NOT restful.

Well... looks like a lot of them are things you'd avoid anyway... ;)
I'd wonder what constituted "high" in oxalates, though.... I'd think
that moderate amounts of the things you do like on that list shouldn't
make too much of a problem.... Most of the things on the list are
things that I do like, and have often enough, but don't go overhoard on

I don't like beer, never have... used to really like coffee, but can't
have that anymore because of developing the allergy to it... And, yes,

    Nancy,

I thought you said that you DID get the shot... that sounds now like you NB>didn't... perhaps you'd left out a word...?

No, I DID get it...my backside told me all about it on the way home.
Never mind "dancing cheek to cheek". :P

I sleep on my side also... the wedge still works for that... I have a
10" wedge... we have a waterbed, so the alternate suggestion of putting NB>the head of the bed up on blocks didn't work for us... :) They run
about $40 at a medical supply place... it might be covered by insurance NB>with a prescription, but I never tried to do that....

I thought I'd get seasick and drown the first time I tried a waterbed.
Never mind I don't do well in rough waters...that's why I don't slosh
around in a bathtub anymore. <G>

My reflux tends to flare whenever I lie flat, especially if I've eaten NB>recently... It isn't helped much by the fact that the sphincter muscle NB>closing the stomach from the esophagus was totally eaten away by the
acid before this was properly diagnosed and I got the right medication
    to heal things...

That's a bummer. When I had the colonoscopy done last year, I had the
upper GI done at the same time. I think I got one for free, and the
other for half price, and only one anesthesia fee.

If I'm drinking tea, it's when I'm eating out, and it is freshly brewed, NB>whether green tea, Chinese tea, or some sort of special tea with added NB>milk and spices... :)

I'll drink the tea on occasion, especially if I'm traveling, and the
soft drinks aren't what I like.

... I try to take one day at a time, but often several days attack at once

    Tell me about it.

    Daryl

We've never had a problem with ours... and it's even one of the original "rock-n'-rollers"... but it's not for everyone.... :) The wedge would
work just fine on a regular bed, too... :)

If 'twas done at the same time, there should only have been one
anesthesia fee... colonoscopies are often considered preventative, and
thus covered in full by the insurance....

    I guess I don't have to.... <G>
