I put together an audio quiz for ALL:

    https://kolico.ca/fidonet/echos/memories/ name%20that%20artist%20and%20cd.mp3
    The short url = https://tinyurl.com/y3jxndbw

It is a mashup of 7 intros of tunes, the 8th being a reprise of the
1st sample. Total time, 3 minutes.

Can you name the Artist, and the specific recording? All tunes are
    from the same recording.

Unfortunately, my computer can't do that sort of thing.... but I saw Joe
    went and checked it out...

    Hello Nancy,

Just copy the link and plop it into your browser.

I notice that some browsers will auto-load a "player" and try to play the file. Others would provide a download option for the .mp3 file.

It's recorded with at least 320kbps and stereo.

My computer uses DOS... the operating system that came before Windows...
to copy the link, I have to use pencil and paper, and to "plop it into
my browser" I have to type it into the Go to line...

I'm using Lynx... a text web browser... I guess it does have a download
option for an .mp3 file... But in DOS I don't have a way to stream
    audio...

It's recorded with at least 320kbps and stereo.

That sounds like it would also likely be too big a file for me to
download... I rarely have more than 2MB, if that, head space on this computer...

It's ok... just not something that I can easily do...

Whoa! I remember using Lynx in my earlier internet/dialup days. I
suppose pure-text browsing can still have a place in this world.

The original 320 kbps .mp3 file is about 7MB :( Sorry! I have
produced two more versions of the file and generated short urls:

    128 kbps, 2.9MB - https://tinyurl.com/y2d7jj27
    64 kbps, 1.5MB - https://tinyurl.com/y6zzutez

    ..both still in stereo.

Hope you can give them a listen!

I think she just has a "DOS based system", especially in regards to
QWK Mail. I don't think she has a browser, but I'm not sure.

Been away a lot, and hard to stay current... finally getting to work at
    it some now... ;)

It can be safer than the graphic browsers... it takes a lot more effort
to click or enter on a bad link, since the actual link is exposed down
at the bottom of the screen... ;)

I'd been aware of Lynx's existence on the college scene long before I
actually started using it myself... my resident Wizard set it up for
me... he'd had some experience with *nix commands and utilities etc from work....

OUCH! :) Way too large for me...

The latter has maybe some possibility... It's still a stretch, so I'll
need to wait till I've cleared some stuff off this machine...

Hope you can give them a listen!

No promises... But I'll consider it once I get a little better caught
    up on the other stuff....
