I got a link the other day from a former Sysop of the audio of a modem connecting to a dial-up BBS. The caption said "Kids complain about
having to wait to connect to Netflix. They had no clue on what we had to
deal with, in calling a BBS".

Kids! Whats the matter with today?
Why can't they be like we were, perfect in every way...

I don't think the average kid today would last long if they were

They couldn't care less about taking care of their parents (as I did),
or much else. The Y generation basically is the figure at the top of the
butt crack, because they wear their pants so low. Even if they knew what
that meant, they probably wouldn't care, anyway.

Even if an EMP were to occur, there might not even be that. Technology
and communications will go back to the Stone Age in the blink of an eye.

No kidding. I have a bulletin on my BBS of "long gone BBS's" in
Arkansas, and especially in the central part of the state. Hard to
believe that's the way it was 30 years ago.

The good old days of not being connected every minute of the day, of
actually going out and doing things. Meeting friends face-to-face.

I miss the monthly BBS User and Sysop gatherings. One local BBS Sysop
is having a picnic deal on Sept. 7 from 10am to 2pm at Pinnacle Valley
State Park. I'm planning on attending, weather permitting. He and
another Sysop usually gather at the last Denny's in the area on selected Sundays for lunch...but we're waiting until the weather cools off a bit.

There's a fella on You Tube, Carmen Ciricillo (uses non-family friendly
language at times) who is a construction worker who compares life today to JM>the 1980s, with a sign off saying "I miss the '80s". Back when men were men
    and not delicate snowflakes.

I long for the days when life was simpler.

When I do a speech at the delegates meeting for the Arkansas State
Square Dance Federation in Clinton, Arkansas in October, with holding 3
officer positions (Editor, Circulation Chairman, and Webmaster -- I'm a
glutton for punishment <G>)...I'm going to start my comments with this:

"I make no apologies for who I may offend here today...because I've
learned 3 things in nearly 60 years of existence, as follows:"

    1) If you try to please everyone, you'll find that you've pleased no
    one.

    2) Life is NOT "Fair". Fair is a fall carnival, a weather term, or a
    call in baseball.

    3) Life is NOT "Burger King". You can NOT always 'Have It Your Way'. I
can say that, as I used to work for them.

As a side note, I tried their "Impossible Whopper" last week. It's
supposed to be a vegan burger, but I saw a news story that vegans may
want to think twice on it. Not being a vegan myself, I just wanted to
try it, and I thought it was pretty good.

I'm also going to tell them that "If you don't contact us to tell us
that something is wrong, how are we going to know?? What your life is
off of the dance floor is your business. And, you can't tell me you
don't have the time. All of us have 1440 minutes in a day...we make time
for what we want to do. Your saying you don't have time, tells me you're
    just lazy".

That ought to ruffle a few feathers. <BG>

Yet, as with so many things, 1% of the people do 99% of the work. When
they complain as to how you're doing it, and you ask them if they want
to take over, they backpedal in a heartbeat!! Everyone wants the glory
and the benefits, but no one wants the gall or the work involved.

    Daryl
