    Hi All!

    I have a poor mans Speedtest on my site:
    https://menedetter.net/

    It has a small Javascript running that shows you if you are connected with IPv4 or IPv6 and runs a small JS speedtest.

    You can also access v4/v6 if you specify it in the domainname: https://ipv6.menedetter.net/
    https://ipv4.menedetter.net/

    The speedtest is not extremely accurate, but IMO it is good enough to get an estimate.

    Cewl !

    IPv6:

    Download 23.51
    Upload 5.03
    Latency 43.38

    IPv4:

    Download 44.59
    Upload 4.96
    Latency 40.40

    You can also access v4/v6 if you specify it in the domainname: https://ipv6.menedetter.net/
    https://ipv4.menedetter.net/

    For the IPv4 test, IPvFox says I am connected via IPv4 but the button still says "Connected via IPv6". I know why that is, I ran into that problem before.;-)

    The speedtest is not extremely accurate, but IMO it is good enough to
    get an estimate.

    My provider says I have 50/5

    For IPv4 it sounds good.
    Question is why is IPv6 so much slower.
    And if the problem is on my side or yours or both ;)

    into that problem before.;-)

    Why?

    This part:

    <center>
    <a href='https://ipv6-test.com'><img src='https://v4v6.ipv6-test.com/imgtest.png' alt='ipv6 test' title='ipv6 test' border='0' /></a>

    <!--<a href='https://www.worldipv6launch.org/'><img src='ipv6.png' alt='ipv6' title='ipv6' border='0' /></a>-->
    </center>

    Even when I use ipv4.menedetter.net and so have my system connect to your's by IPv4, the above code is executed on MY system and it calls ipv6-test.com over IPv6 because my system supports IPv6. And so ipv6-test.com reports that I connect by IPv6.

    The button reports how I connect to ipv6-test.com, not how I connect to YOU.

    The speedtest is not extremely accurate, but IMO it is good
    enough to get an estimate.

    My provider says I have 50/5

    For IPv4 it sounds good.
    Question is why is IPv6 so much slower.

    I don't know. But it is not incidental. The speed varies a bit but the difference between IPv4 and IPv6 is consistent. IPv6 speed is about half of IPv4.

    And if the problem is on my side or yours or both ;)

    Other dual stack speed tests perforned from here show no consistent sigificant difference between IPv4 and IPv6...

    D'Oh ...
    Modified it slightly, so that it checks how you reached MY site :)

    I think I improved it a bit now.

    For our xDSL lines there is no much difference between IPv4 and IPv6.
