I haven't seen that here, lately.

    Hello Wilfred,

Why is the subject of your reply mangled up?

Because the subject line starts with "Re:"

Golded stumbles on those subject lines sometimes for reasons I don't know.

I've never noticed that on my version which is even 2 years older.

    Did you compile it yourself?

Btw: I get a deja vu fealing about this. Did we discuss it before? ;-)

    Bye, Wilfred.

Testing the subject line with an older version of golded. I still get the same result.

    Indeed...

    Did you compile it yourself?

    Yes.

So the problem might be "external" to the golded source.

What is your compiler version? Mine is quite old:

    # gcc --version
    gcc (SUSE Linux) 4.8.5
Copyright (C) 2015 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

Or maybe it's some kind of 32 / 64 bit issue?
Or maybe one of the libraries on your system...

And you still haven't fixed it? ;-)

    Hello Wilfred,

Last test. If I comment out EDITREPLYRE or set it to no I get that messed up subject when it starts with "Re:".

If I set EDITREPLYRE Yes in my config then it works OK. I prefer not to add the Re: but I guess I'll leave it like this.

    Hello Wilfred,

So the problem might be "external" to the golded source.

I don't think so, it has to do with the EDITREPLYRE setting in golded.cfg.

What is your compiler version? Mine is quite old:

    # gcc --version
    gcc (SUSE Linux) 4.8.5
Copyright (C) 2015 Free Software Foundation, Inc.

I am using 11.2.0 at the moment but I have noticed this since gcc 5.

Or maybe it's some kind of 32 / 64 bit issue?

It might be. I wonder if it happens on a 32 bit build or not.

What do you see if you set EDITREPLYRE No in your config?

I think we've talked about before once or twice.. :)

And you still haven't fixed it? ;-)

I am no programmer or I would take a shot at it.. ;)

Yes the subject on this reply looks ok.

I have the EDITREPLYRE setting set to Yes, so maybe that's why it always works ok on my system?

This is a reply with EDITREPLYRE set to No... The subject isn't mangled.

This is a reply with EDITREPLYRE set to No... The subject isn't
    mangled.

Something must be different in the OSs. If I set EDITREPLRE No, I get mangled subject lines that start with "Re:". Not always but much of the time. If I set it to No then it seems to work OK though subject lines for replies will always start with "Re:".

I'm thinking but not sure it's special characters like : or / that cause it to stumble.

    My OS is slackware64 15.0.

    Could be...

(I did only 1 test message that way)

You could experiment with a ':' in the first characters of the subject line.

    I'm on openSUSE Leap 42.1 (x86_64).
