Is that effectively turning the unsearchable group now public too? I am
not sure we want totally random people having the ability to post on the first visit. They need to be familiar with the echo rules for one thing.
Here's the thing: Telegram to Fido is for all intents and purposes, a BBS platform.
Anyone who wants to, basically, can join a BBS, and access any message group available. I didn't necessarily know the rules of the message groups when I first joined. I learned them as i went, or when the moderator posted them. Or other users and moderators would point out if something violated the rules.
At some point, if you want it to be a functioning growing place for people to be able to access and learn about Fidonet and it's echos, you have to have the opportunity for them to find it.
It's far easier to allow people in, and manage filtering out the occasional troublemaker, than it is to manage people contacting you individually for access.
