The Tunnel

An old army general and a young private got on the train. The only
vacant seats were in the back of the car, facing an elderly lady, and
her granddaughter. During the day, they all became very well acquainted.
Late in the afternoon, the train passed through a long tunnel. In the darkness, there was the sound of a smack and a slap. When the train came
out into the light, all four faces were red.
The grandmother thought: "That little upstart of a private tried to
kiss my granddaughter, and she slapped him".
The granddaugter thought: "That old general tried to kiss my
grandmother, and she slapped him".
The general thought: "That young private tried to kiss that girl,
and she slapped at him, and hit me".
When they got off the train, the private said to himself: "Boy, I
never had it so good in my life. I kissed the back of my hand,
slapped the stuffin' out of the General, and got away with it".
