From Fabio Bizzi@2:335/364.3 to All on Fri Oct 11 19:52:02 2019
    Hello, All.

I remember when I was an italian hub in the old good times that there was an echo policy for the italian echo areas, is out there anything similar now for the international echo areas? :)

    Many thanks!

There is none that I know of. Fidonet is just the mechanics of getting it all done. Each echo is owned by the moderator and the moderator is free to run his/her echo as they please.

In times passed a moderator would ask a bad actor to stop and if that didn't happen would ask the sysop to stop the bad actor. If that didn't work would ask the backbone to cut the feed of the offending systen.

In most cases a feed cut was not needed.

In today's fidonet the feed cut option is not an option.

There are not many moderators active today.. so that leaves us pretty much where we are.

How would you like to proceed?

I'm just the last arrived there and I'd like to learn before to do. ;)

But I'm trying to do a rebirth of fidonet in Italy, I was luky and I have a bunch of people that would like to restart the good old italian fidonet, nice people, helpfully, and polite.

So I'd like to find an echo policy to look at to write the Italian one.

BTW I'm sure for the international side that all should start from a deep revision of the Policy and of the rules and first of all we need an IC. ;)

That is why we have the "next Key" and the filters in our readers.
