Just wondering if there are many here using Frontdoor over the Internet?

I have set up an instance for fsxNet as 21:3/100 at ipv4.agency.bbs.nz:24558 and have a few nodes polling and using EMSI style sessions over telnet as opposed to BinkP which seems to be way more prevalent.

not any more, but i was prior to Aug/Sep 2018... with traditional FTN mailers, yes, EMSI is more common amongst the traditional protocols...

my system was a hybrid in that i added binkd to the mix and used FD related tools to move the outbound files to fileboxes which binkd watched... i also used inbound fileboxes but didn't really need to... my mail processing script moved all inbound files to a central location where my tosser (fastecho at the time) could process them... there was a slight chance of overwriting existing files but this was mitigated by checking the existance in the central directory first...

I had EMSI over Telnet working here at one time. Nobody cared to use it.

HI PAUL, I'VE BEEN MESSING WITH AMIEXPRESS ON AN AMIGA EMULATOR LATELY (CAUSE I'VE HAD TOO MUCH TIME)

I used to use Frontdoor in the old days so I'm glad you brought it up. It
might be an option only if I have a hub that might support it.

    Interesting,

    Hi Tommi and all,

I have for years used the FrontDoor APX point software to connect to
a BBS via copper line from a Windows PC.

Now I would like to have the possibility to connect to a POTS system
from places that may not have the possibility to connect via a copper
net but where I would have the possibilty to connect via WiFi to a POTS
    BBS from my laptop.

The laptop doesn't have a built-in modem but plug-in modems should be available, or modems that use an USB port.

How can I access a POTS BBS via Wifi with the FD point software???

I do have the MTEL32 beta for OS/2 and Windows if that could help.

    Have a nice day,

    Holger

If you can't connect directly your node to an IP network you need to simulate a pots network over telnet with something like this:

    https://www.amazon.com/ONETAK-Ethernet-Converter-Adapter-Adaptor/dp/B00ATV2DX2

    http://www.nordfield.com/rs232-ethernet-converter

Obviusly on the other side you need something than can handle an older serial mailer protocol over TCP/IP or another device like the one on the node.

    Ciao!

VMODEM is what you need in OS/2 to make FroDo to see the internet thru the virtual COM port. ;)

But you still don't have IP network in your OS/2, right?

Yes, and IIRC it's included with the SIO software or something else but
I know I have it somewhere.

But you still don't have IP network in your OS/2, right?

Not yet but I'll try to do it the same way I do on my Win10 machines
with an Asus USB-N13 network adapter.

First of all I'll move my HD's to a more modern machine but I would
rather use one of my laptops for the BBS like I think you do.

But for that to happen I would need a modern OS/2 version that allows me
to install OS/2 on one of them. Warp 4 FP15 doesn't install whatever I
    try.

    Have a nice day,
