    Hi Alan,
On <Thu, 09 May 19>, you wrote me:

Andrew Pamment wrote Magicka BBS, a BBS that has internal BW support
so you could try a Magicka BBS. His own BBS is called The Fat
Sandwich at sandwich.magickabbs.com on port 2023 or SSH port 2024.

Andrew only had a very small subset of fidonet echos. No FIDOTEST. I picked OTHERNETS. The downloaded bluewave packet had about 760+ messages. But there was a new problem. All the message dates were:

    "ddd, nn Dec 00 00:00"

..where the only things that changed were ddd for the day of the week, and nn for the date.

Then... there was another problem. I accidentally hit the Space-Bar and the BBS disconnected me. But when I tried a reconnect, and entered my login credentials, the BBS would report "Already logged in" and disconnect me. I waited about 15 minutes and even pulled the internet connection too. But when I tried to reconnect, I got the same "Already logged in" and it would disconnect me. :( I have now waited over an hour, and the same thing is happening.

I wanted to test a QWK packet, but I guess this little experiment won't work
    at that Fat Sandwich. :(

I'll give him a shout about the above session problem.

Send him a netmail at 3:640/461 and ask for the area to be connected. It's far easier for him to ask than for me to hook him up.

Tell him of your difficulty, with my compliments, and ask for better service. :)

    Cheers,
    Paul.

That is odd. Do you see that when you get messages here or other BBSs?

You could try looking at those messages in another mail reader and see if that problem shows itself there as well.

Your BBS session exited, crashed maybe. Andrew will want to know about that.

Yep, Andrew will be glad to assist and I'm sure will want to know how your BBS experience goes on Magicka.

The above date problem is *only* on Fat Sandwich (Magicka).

True. But if it ain't gonna look right in SemPoint, I have to move on. I don't want this to turn into a BW debug/test. This is initially a
    SemPoint test! ;)

SemPoint *wants* to work well, but it can't do its job if the data in the packet it gets is munged. :(

Meanwhile, this has been quite a ride into telnetting into BBSes. I am totally impressed with the telnetbbsguide.com It is a GREAT asset for the BBS community.

I am primarily a "message user", so spending too much time on any BBS is
not my thing. But I was impressed with the creativity (funny ansii
screens) and unique styles of the systems I checked out.

I was *almost* convinced to delve into BBS sysoping, again too!. But
today, my system would be pretty boring"

You can be a node in fidonet with or without a BBS.

I happen to have a bit of a BBS bug so I still have a BBS online but it isn't required.
