    Hello Nick,

But the nodelist is just a text file that lists connectivity information.

    You really think so?
There is much dead wood in it, that should be cleared up I think.

I donot think, Hold, Down or PVT, is connection info.

    Henri.

    Hello Nick,

But the nodelist is just a text file that lists connectivity information.
    You really think so?
What else should it be used for?

You do not get my point.

There is too much inconnectivity in the NodeList.
    You can call that garbage.

And you think this IS/HAS connect info:

    NodeList> Pvt,1466,Owls_Anchor,Columbia_MD,Dale_Shipp,-Unpublished-,9600,XX,MO

Sorry, but such systems are only acting as a point.
Not a crash Net reachable Node by others, no phonenumber, no IP information, wrong baudrate, no BBS as the MO flag is listed,
and no FileRequests, as shown by the XX flag are also not possible (anymore). So it does not proof any form of connectivity, not a single one ;-(.
At least the 9600 should be 300, and the XX removed.

The same goes on for many other nodes with Pvt, Hold, Down, etc.
Some are even there unreachable for many years as Kees van Eeten has prooven. I.e. HostNames not converting to IP numbers, bad DNServers etc.
so there is incomplete not working connect info.
Al that kind of systems are the dead wood garbage in the NodeList.
2% of faults is normal, 5 % max, but if more, then somthing is terribly wrong. Many *C's are not doing their job's, so the upper level should correct it,
and in the end that are the ZC's, does not matter which Zone.
    The garbage is everywhere.

Second, the NodeList is also a BBSlist for manual modem callers to log in,
many people forget that. FidoNet was originally a net of connected BBSes,
from witch EchoMail was an important flavor to reduce calling all systems.

At InterNet there are Forum's, but they are mostly not connected to more hosts.
So everyone has to enter an acoount and start his question again
on other forums with the same topic ;-(.
That's a waste the InertNet people did not learn from FidoNet ;-(.
They should start connecting Forums wih the same topic together.
Another disadvanteage of Forums is that replies on old messages are made impossable ;-(.

    Henri.

The entry is what my NC made when he assigned me a node many years ago.
Reading the nodelist today, I can see that you are right about the 300
versus 9600 ( which was the baud rate of my modem when I had one). I understand your point about the XX, I seem to recall that it simply
indicated the type of mailer I had which has been IM and then Argus.
BUT, I do operate a BBS with users even though I do not accept incoming connects -- and never have done so.

I'll send a netmail to my NC and mention that the XX should be removed

Your theoretical musings show very little understanding how things are made to work. 3 out of 4 ZCs 'are' doing a good job!

We know about particular anomalies in the nodelist but in certain locations you just have to make do with who-ever is still left there ... up to the RC-level in certain cases. There may not be any viable people anymore in certain cases when a particular *C skips a beat.

And Dale has been a respected contributor for years, I'd like more people like him in the nodelist.

QWK offline mail bundles transferred via email to each user... to get an account, you send him the particulars needed and he sets it up... then you do QWK mail from there adding/removing areas, reading/writing messages, etc all using email transfers... you get a blahblah.qwk in your email, save it to disk, fire you your QWK reader... any replies are put into a blahblah.rep bundle which you then email back where it is processed by and imported into the BBS message areas... from there, normal FTN ops take over and he polls his link(s) to send/receive FTN mail...

I run a BBS for myself and for my users (plural). They do not connect
with my BBS directly. They connect with my BBS via sending an email
message which then spawns a process to sign into the BBS *locally*.
Another process is spawned via a cron type event at specified times

Your statement makes no sense. MO explicitly says that my node does not
accept human callers. And it does not.

It was because someone wrote you had a BBS,

    That I do.

so I rememberd your name and looked it up.

    Why no connect info then?,
not even your IP or E-Mail adress.

I am PVT with decent cause, as accepted by the various *Cs who have
issued the node and/or reviewed it.

BUT, I do operate a BBS with users even though I do not accept incoming connects -- and never have done so.

Why not make the connect info public?

For private reasons that I will discuss only with those in the chain of command, so to speak.

I'll send a netmail to my NC and mention that the XX should be removed

Fidonet was so big back then that it didn't really seem like "that

plenty of squabbles within the local net over cost recovery plans
and the like. Also it seemed like it took a lot more time/effort
to keep the mailer/bbs running smoothly. Always a tweak to make
in the master batch file and all the various individual configs
for all the added utilities that were in use. Good times.

What a huge cavity those women must have. At least 30" deep,
and 6" wide. Which makes their claim preposterous.

However, I have given this more thought.

The size of a gorilla's dick is much smaller than most men's dicks.
In order for Fay Wray to have gotten any real enjoyment from her mate,
she would have needed to find a gorilla the size of King Kong.

Which means, in order for a man to be "hung like a horse" he would
have to be a massive giant. I think Jack once met a giant of that
size after he climbed a beanstalk.

You have absolutely no earthly idea what women can do with a horse.
When a guy tries to do it, especially if it is a stallion, he often
finds himself extremely disappointed, never able to get it in where
he wants. I have actually seen this happen. During Mardi Gras.

A very drunk Cajun tried to make out with a policeman's horse.
This was during broad daylight, and the scene was drawing a crowd.
What does a policeman do when a drunk Cajun tries to make out
with the horse the policeman is riding on?

He gets off his horse and puts the drunkard on board. Then
busts the drunkard for DUI (driving under the influece).

And to think the drunkard beat the rap.

Argued in court the horse was not a motorized vehicle.

The court ruled him not guilty.

Now, realize the size of what is inside a stallion's sheath
is much longer than what most men could ever hope to possess.
If a stallion gets hot enough to want to do to a man what it
wants to do with a mare, I truly feel sorry for the man who
tried to mess with the stallion.

That is why doing it with a cow makes much more sense than
trying to do it with a horse. One of my classmates during
grammar school did that while we were waiting for the bus.

His mom brought him to school after he missed the bus, and
was greeted by everybody at school calling him "Moo!"

    Hello Nick,

Women love my dick. They call it the most "beautiful thing in the
world" - knowing I aim to please.

    Microscopic things are often cute...

Sorry my dick isn't big enough to make you happy.

You have written me many love letters here and obsess about me so much, desperately clinging onto my every word just because I occupy the 1:1/0 address. If you're going to venture into gay joke territory, your
    apparent
nodelist-fetish somewhat stack the deck against you.

Oh, suddenly Ms. Taco is an expert on burritos?

Speaking of nodelists - Hows your Sysop Node-number Probation Period
    going?
Did you finally figure out how to install a mailer yet?

I just show them my hands.
